Unfortunately Klein has outsourced its electronics. The multi meters are made in China. Most hand tools are still made in USA. They are tested and approved by ETI for distribution in America. But I am very disappointed in Klein.

Q: Does this meter handle run/start capacitors in hvac work?

Yes this meter and Fluke 324 check capacitance, but the Fluke 324 will NOT check Max amperage nor starting amperage of an air conditioning compressor like this meter does. The Fluke 325 does but is almost $300.

Q: How small of DC current can this measure? 5mA and lower?

I'm afraid not. According to the instruction manual, in the lowest DC current range (60.00A) the resolution is 10mA. The accuracy is +/-(2.0% + 8 digits).

Q: With the clamp you can measure amps in DC. and up to how many amps maximum. for automotive mechanics

Maybe this is an updated version of the CL900 but the meter and specs say up to 2000 amps AC and up to 2000 amps DC using the clamp.
