Marine Radio For Recreational Boaters: How to Sound Like a Pro on Your Marine VHF Radio

This book provides a great intro to the language rules and protocols of marine radio. Suggest getting it before you take a course.

I wanted to love this book, but it fell short. I am a beginning boater and bought this book so I would have examples of what to say on channel 16 for basic situations and not sound like the clueless novice that I am.Instead, easily 3/4 of this book was preaching about why some radio etiquette is bad and why using proper etiquette is good. Yeah, ok, obviously I am aware if I bought this book. But what was lacking was practical examples.Sigh.It did have some examples but the book could easily have been 75% shorter. It seemed ridiculous to spend so much time dreading about the importance of proper radio etiquette and not being given many examples.

Bought this book to support me in vhf use, it's very informative.
