This is a wonderful , concise and to th point no nonsense book on Tropical disease. The author(s) give useful cryptic advice that comes from their experience and don't waste much time on various probabilities or sit on the fence. Each chapter ends with an anecdote about a patient diagnosed or treated to put the knowledge ( and the doubting reader) in its place. I hav read Manson's tropical disease( parts), Lecture notes on Tropical Medicine and a few of WHO publications, this one is the most forthright. The book is in Kindle AZW4 format so kindle reader will not be able to open it. Kindle app on mac os and iPhone can manage and do it well. Kindle version price is reasonable. The cover picture makes it look like a travel or gardening book that is why I did not buy it the first time round.Lancet rates the book highly and I believe it. Bur, be careful, sometimes it is too dogmatic- e.f: p207 "Splenomegaly never occurs in Dengue fever "- the correct statement would be palpable splenomegaly never occurs in Dengue fever. These days , many times, patient will have USG of abdomen and splenomegaly is reported in 6-16% of cases.
