It's a good SSD but make sure you're on PCIE 4.0
Firecuda 520 is a PCIE gen 4 SSD. You have to remember that before you make a purchase. The good parts:The read speed is rated at 5Gbps and that's not a lie.I play a lot of games and the concept of loading screen with this SSD is almost non-existent (for offline games).I used to be on a SATA SSD before and I can totally notice the difference. Following are the games that I tested:1. Red Dead Redemption 2 (xbox game pass)2. Assassins Creed Odyssey (steam)3. Horizon Zero Dawn (epic store)4. Sekiro Shadows die twice (steam)The games above have loading screen for approx 1-2 seconds. I think it's only as a formality that the games have to show for even that long.I installed Windows in under 5 minutes on this thing, and the bottleneck during the installation was the restart time. The boot up is close to 5 seconds from 0 to full desktop. The bad parts:That said, the write speed of the drive is not 5Gbps, remember that.SSDs usually use a "buffer memory" for writing. While transferring big chunks of files the buffer can overflow and cause even lower write speeds. For example, while I was trying to copy over RDR2 (150GB) from my old ssd to this one, I found the speed reduced from 2.5 Gbps to 500-700 Mbps after a while. (I think after 20Gbs or so).Don't expect good loading time from online games.Borderlands 3, Fall guys, etc usually take much longer than 2 seconds to load because of their bottleneck i.e. the internet. (I use150mbps YouBroadband)I also noticed the SSD (45 degrees) runs a fair bit hotter compared to SATA SSD (38 degrees) while gaming. (Celsius of course.)Conclusion:Do you have a PCIE4 m.2 slot on your motherboard? (Speaking in Sept. 2020 only AMD CPUs have that luxury)Do you have the money and requirement for this speed? (I mean you really don't need it for watching pirated movies, trust me, that's just a waste of money.)If the answer is yes to both of those questions, get it.

Stolen prior to delivery
I purchased a brand new computer to replace my ageing desktop and wanted to install a large fast nvme SSD. I normally pre build but given component costs just went prebuilt this time as the prebuild has a 1tb firecuda 530 in it I was thinking to leave that for the OS and the 4tb was for media/games/VM etc. Dead excited to open the package and extremely shocked to find it empty. A genuine Seagate box with manuals and the plastic box for the nvme drive in it but no drive. Amazon are arranging a replacement but I will for sure on the replacement check on delivery with the delivery guy present taking a video as well. For anyone thinking I am not genuine I even offered to read out my serial number to the Amazon rep as surely these drives can be remotely locked when they are put into a device with an internet connection - would disincentive theft surely. Thank you to Amazon customer services for being responsive and taking this seriously I just hope I actually get a real device soon. Amazon you may want to check other reported thefts if they have a commonality in the supply chain.Update - the replacement was stolen prior to delivery also. Luckily I asked my better half to take a video of the delivery during which I checked the delivery, noticed the Seagate box sticker seal was already opened, pulled out the contents and saw it was empty again, handed the package back to the delivery person and refused delivery

More than a gaming product
Bought this to replace an external USB & Thunderbolt NVME with an Intel Mac Mini 2018. This is a good value for money product. Performance is fine and support for MacOS is good. Using with a Sabrent NVME drive. Very happy after 2 weeks use.Note I found an issue with the LED software in that it won't load when my Razer Chroma eGPU is connected. Hopefully there will be a fix but it's not enough to warrant a lower score. Update - LED control now fixed on MacOS. Very impressed with the support.
