This product is much cheaper than others because it is dual band not tri-band. This means that the communication between the units that makes the mesh work is done on the same 5G radio band that your other devices are connected to. Tri-band routers have an extra band that is dedicated for the mesh communication or backhaul leaving the normal 5G band empty for devices.Hence, if you are using ethernet to do the backhaul you don't need the third band in your mesh WiFi as your devices will never use it making this product a winner at half the price. I had two Netgear Orbi's before this one including the utterly dreadful RBR850 which simply would not work properly. I returned the unit twice.By comparison, these units work well, set-up is pretty straight forward and all the WiFi problems I had had with Orbi were solved. Strongly recommend if using Ethernet backhaul. I cant speak to how good it is using WiFi backhaul. read the other reviews for that.One downside is that TP-Link is Chinese and as you can access your mesh network from outside your home, it means that the data of how your network is performing is probably being captured on a server in Shenzhen, China. I run this in Access Point Mode meaning that the only data that Tp-Link gets is the devices IDs and which node they are connected to which I don't think is a problem. This is something to bear in mind if you intend to use this product as your network router.
