DK06 Serrated Duct Knife from Klein Tools
Update: 10/17/2014_I've now had this knife for about a month or so. It sits ontop of my table saw, in the sheath, ready to grab in the garage, as I stated before, it's intended use. I have cut boxes up for the trash bin, to make thins fit more efficiently, cut paracord, stabbed a large roach, opened cat food boxes, scrapped the algae and barnacles from a trim actuator and in general used it more than I thought I would. This Klein knife is a dream. Big and sound. Sharp and holds an edge well. I like it more now than before, when I wrote this review.I've used Klein tools for years and after seeing this DK06 Serrated Duct Knife, I ordered it for a Garage Utility knife. By utility, I mean I will use it for almost everything I'll need to cut, box opening, poking holes in, and with the Serrated edge, most rope, cardboard box tear down, duct tape cutting and of course, the occasional zombie throat slitting and brain stab. It is a hefty knife and will work well for about any knife use you may have. I have a fishing addiction, which I don't indulge in near enough and this will work well off the bank, shore, pier or boat as a general purpose bait knife or gutting blade, where a smaller knife would be found lacking. It fits the palm very well when gripping the rubber handle and cleans up well with soapy water. The stainless steel edge was not very sharp, but useable when first pulled from the puncture resistant sheath for the first time, but a little time with the Smith Diamond Sharpener, the edge was smoothed off and the edge became almost too sharp for a utility blade and cuts like a new blade in a box cutter. The tang goes through the handle to a end pommel, that can serve as a flat faced hammer when handled carefully, so as not to stick yourself in the eye or something. The knife does not have a guard at the blade, but the handle there forms a flared guard like end to the grip. If you need a garage knife, a bait cutting knife or just a Duct knife, this will serve you well. I like mine for the price and love it for being a wicked dagger shaped Utility dual edged zombie weapon, that cost me only $12.92 with free delivery, with my Prime Membership, which is due for renewal at a higher price than last year. Of course.

GREAT DUCT KNIFE! PERFECT AROUND THE CONSTRUCTION SITE AND HOME. VERY WEATHER AND OXIDATION RESISTANT. NOT A KNIFE TO CARRY AROUND TOWN, BUT I HAVE PLENTY OTHERS FOR THAT PURPOSE. ANOTHER WINNER IN THE COLLECTION! I RECOMMEND THIS DUCT KNIFE

Good For The Price
This is an excellent inexpensive beater knife. It's made from some proprietary secret formula stainless alloy, and it does sharpen up reasonably easily to a very fine (but not quite shaving sharp) edge. The sharp side is an uninterrupted cutting edge, and the serrated side has sharp and nicely formed teeth, but not really of the wood cutting sort. It does and will cut wood, just not as easily as a single purpose wood cutting saw edge. Can't speak as to how well it holds an edge yet, but it is an industrial tool for insulation and ductwork so I expect that it will hold up reasonably well. The two-tone rubberized handle fits comfortably in the hand and is topped with a stainless steel buttcap. The black nylon sheath is nothing to write home about but it does what it's supposed to do. The only thing that I really dislike about the sheath is that the strap to secure the knife in the sheath uses a velcro closure, which in my experience just don't hold up well. I added a snap button closure to the strap and problem solved. This is a good general purpose hunting/camping/self defense knife, and I imagine that it makes a good insulation and ductwork knife as well. Well worth the reasonable price. Recommend.

This is a really nice well made double edged knife
This is a really nice well made double edged knife. not a show piece but a worker. the serrations on one edge are not the largest size, they are a smaller more subtle gauge, which works best for all-around cutting, such as in duct work as this was intended for. but even just as a handy knife, very well balanced and ergonomic, the rubber grip feels very comfy and the holster they give with it is very good too. it has a small conical metal piece that the tip of the knife should rest in, and it prevents the canvas from getting holes poked through it as it's used through the day. but mine fell out easily, so I put some silicone on it and put it back down in there and let it set all night, and it's been fine since. any appropriate adhesive would work. and if you had to you could tap the knife with a hammer. seems like a good tough knife for the price. looks like it would cost more when you get it and feel it in the hand. glad I got it!

Sharp after abuse and long-lasting quality.
I abuse this tool, yet its still sharp for my hvac work. I love the metal tang at the bottom for busting a hole through duct.

A high quality product!
This is a quality tool! The handle is high-friction rubberlike material, comfortable to hold, with nice safety points for one's thumb to rest and push against. There is a real, actual, steel cap (not shiny plastic) at the end of the handle that is embedded a half-inch or so into the back of the handle. Within reason, it could be used as a hammer. The blade is about 1/2 tang, maybe a little more, but the handle is so solid and sturdy that it's hard to imagine that one could ever break the tang. The blade itself is a robust 3mm in thickness, 5 1/2 inches long. The serrated side of the blade has a feature that I have never seen before--there is a small grind on the back side of the serrations. By carefully honing that grind with a round diamond rod (Smith's make one), I was able to produce even sharper serrated edges. The nylon sheath is probably better than most and would be fine for a tradesman using this tool in HVAC work, but I don't like 'em and made a nice leather one. But that's just me. Also, the straight edge was not very sharp as received, but by pulling it through my Rada sharpener a number of times a nice sharp edge was achieved. This knife will not disappoint, however it might be used--building trades, camping, even for self-defense.
