Wire, The: The Complete Series (DVD/RPKG)

The DVD’s are not the same as the original Box Set I purchased and let a friend borrow that was never returned. I digress. The price point was great. It’s the best thing ever televised and a must have for the home collection.

Great series, you may need to watch two to really get into it.

The story, writing, acting, photography absolutely best ever. Why it failed to win a single Emmy is beyond my comprehension. As we're watching, I'm putting viewed discs in an old CD storage box I had as the storage box the disc came in is very sturdy but getting the discs out and then back in their individual slots requires a fair amount of pressure and I don't want to chance breaking a disc in the process. Edit: The 5 star rating for the series stands but I should note that 3 of the discs hung up and required repeated cleaning to be viewed. Probably best to clean these "new" discs before watching.

There is only one negative thing I can say about this show - not a fan of sex scenes. Not all of it was gratuitous; it needed to be there to show you the type of environment in which some of these people live. But some of it was, and I just didn't need to see it. I admit, though, it did not take anything away from this series. Which says a lot coming from me. This is one of those shows where you lose yourself in it and forget they are actors - the acting was beyond phenomenal. (How did this not win a slew of Emmys?!!?!) The casting, the writing, Baltimore - it was all a cohesive whole. And I think it went steps above other dramas by granting me the courtesy of thinking I have half a brain. It didn't try to explain anything, or shove it down my throat... it simply presented everything, figuring I was swift enough to connect the dots. That... is... so... rare. Another reviewer wrote people "need" to see this series; I agree. If you want to see the nitty-grittiness of life on drug-addled streets where people have to claw their way into the sun... all from the comfort of your own home... this is the show to watch. It is informative, heartbreaking, inspiring - all at the same time. And, trust me, if you ever visit Baltimore and there is someone trying to wash your windscreen, you'll have a new appreciation from where these inner city kids are coming from and what they are going through.

The Wire It was suggested that I watch this series a year ago and if you want to know more about the drug culture that was going on In Baltimore 30 years ago, this is the series you need to watch!

No quiero desviarme con lo que respecta a la calidad de la serie en sí. Para quien tenga duda, esta edición incluye tanto audio y subtitulos en español como en ingles, frances y portugues, por lo que si tienen dudas relacionadas al idioma la coleccion está bien. Relacionado con la region, si viven en America o Latinoamerica y compran la version en Blueray (que es la que mas recomiendo) podrán ver la serie sin problema pues no habrá complicacion para reproducir los discos. Si compran la coleccion en DVD recomiendo que tengan un DVD multiregion o que lea Region 1 porque si no no los va a dejar. Quiero insistir con que la mejor compra es la del blueray porque los aspectos de radio del DVD se mantienen originales al televisivo, no van a tener la version de 16:9 la cual sería fullscreen y en HD. Ahora, la caja es muuuuy sencilla, realmente solo es una caja que tiene dentro y por separado las 5 temporadas. Hay una version de la serie (coleccion azul) que tiene cada temporada separada por caja lo cual personalmente me resulta mas comodo y seguro para los discos por lo que recomendaria esa aunque solo por su practicidad.

Arrived in good packaging and the discs are in great shape truly enjoying this series - good bang for your buck.
