Niacin: The Real Story: Learn about the Wonderful Healing Properties of Niacin

Priceless info.
I am turning everyone on to niacin left and right. Love the book. Love the niacin. Love it. It makes me sooo angry that this isn't more widely accepted. In fact, if you just type in niacin to google, you would honestly think the freaking AMA has something out for it or something. I just find it ridiculous that they can make claims and freak out about NIACIN, and then turn around and prescribe pills X Y and Z, one for mental health, one for blood pressure, and one for cholesterol, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. What, three random pills from three random pharmaceutical companies with three different money making agendas? What is there to question??? Interactions? Noooo....of course not. In fact, take it all while you're PREGNANT! Yes, please, sign me up ;)So really. I mean. Take everything with a grain of salt.Or just take some niacin. I mean. It's really good. I'm going on three weeks and feel GREAT. Like I know my body was craving this nutrient. I can just tell. He says in the book, with niacin, you'll be able to tell fairly quickly if it's working for you.Just try it. It's cheap. Depressed? Angry? High cholesterol? ADD? MS? The list goes on and on.Also, in case you decide you just wanna buy niacin and not the book: Only buy pure niacin. The niacin that gives you a flush. Work your way up to the flush. Then level out until you don't flush. Then up the dose again until you flush again. Anyway, he goes into the other types...but I found that all to be a headache. Basically you want the flush. The slow release kind is the kind that is bad for your liver. If you tell someone about niacin and they're like "OH BUT YOUR LIVER BLAH BLAH BLAH". Just smile and be like, ummm riiiiiiight. That's slow release niacin. Real niacin flushes and is out of your body within hours. That's why you take it three times a day with meals. It leaves your body. Annnnyway.;) Anyway. I love this stuff. The book itself isn't that great....I mean, coming from an editing perspective. Some paragraphs ARE repeated...sometimes it seems WORD FOR WORD, in different parts of the book, or even a couple pages later. It got a little annoying, however, I found it was only really at the beginning of the book. And as it is a compilation of three different authors, I guess I let these little editing mistakes go. For the price, the book is right. Enjoy!

Gerson recommended for his cancer patients would help me too
I read Dr. Gerson's biography, Dr. Max Gerson: Healing the Hopeless, and then I read the Gerson therapy book. We aren't a big "vitamin" family, but after reading those two books, I felt any vitamin Dr. Gerson recommended for his cancer patients would help me too. I then took each vitamin he recommended and research them individually...leading me to this book. My husband and I have been taking Niacin now for over three years, and the first thing we realized is that men should be taking Niacin INSTEAD of viagra-HANDS DOWN. I'm not talking about drive, i'm talking about size. Permanent change WILL HAPPEN if any man starts taking this vitamin over the age of thirty. I love this book because Abram Hoffer explains pretty well about the dosage and results that he has seen in people taking Niacin. I don't think we would be taking Niacin so faithfully, had I not read this book, and we see everything from aches that used to be-gone to more clarity in thought. We are so grateful for Abram Hoffer and feel like my husband would have been a heart patient at some point had we not gotten our hands on this very cheap and simple truth. We have a friend who started taking it, and his feet stopped aching at night, now his "man size" has gone up significantly, and he is a believer as well. Life changing.

NIACIN'S MIRACULOUS PROPERTIES
I bought this book more out of curiosity than out of any idea that niacin could make a difference in my life. After reading through the refreshing prose for a while, I was inspired to try some instant niacin myself. The proof, after all, is in the pudding. Was I surprised! On 600 mg instant niacin a day:(a) I could suddenly sleep well 7 hours a night (I was taking 300 micrograms melatonin at night which I no longer needed);(b) Besides going as red as a beet when I took my first two 100 mg tablets, I noticed an immediate boost in mood; yes, niacin often makes me feel high. (I am someone who never drinks or takes drugs.)(c) My joint pains and muscle pains, which I had for years, went away overnight, almost completely.(d) I had so much more energy, which remains steady through each day (I was taking carnitine, which I no longer need.)(e) I had a very unpleasant, painful, protruding pile which had lasted for more than a month, before I began taking niacin. Within 3 days my pile had shrunk, I could hardly feel any lump and the muscle tone in that area felt much better. I haven't had any problems with piles in the 6 months I have been taking niacin, no matter how much I push.(f) On a gram of slow release niacin, taken in addition to the 600 mg fast niacin a day, my LDL dropped from 5.6 to 3.0 in two weeks. My HDL went from 1.31 to 1.68.The book is not merely about the many benefits of niacin, but is the story of niacin, of how Dr. Hoffer first came to use it on many of his patients. It is also, in a very real sense, the story of Dr. Hoffer himself, and what a wonderful, inspiring story it is!According to this book, about 50% of all people in the world can benefit from taking niacin every day. I am clearly one of them. Curiously, the opposite seems to be true for my wife: for one, it aggravated her piles overnight, causing them to flare up painfully, and she experienced no subjective benefits. It is therefore a question of each person must try for himself / herself and closely monitor what they experience. There is a bit of jargon that apparently explains this: under-methylation (me); over-methylation (my wife.)The only downsides I experienced (I do not see the itching, burning sensation on the skin and the hot flashes which sometimes arise, as such) is that it seemed to aggravate my sinusitis. However, I was able to counteract this effect effectively with curcumin and msm. Further, if taken directly before switching off the light at night, I tended to experienced arythmias (irregular heart beat) while waiting to fall asleep or on waking during the night. So now I take 200 mg about an hour before I switch off the night light, which makes all the difference. One area the book does not effectively or safely address, which is a bit of a bummer, is clear directions on the use of slow niacin. Reading this book, one can be forgiven for thinking that it would be safe to take 3 grams of slow release niacin a day, instead of 3 grams of fast release niacin, although this book almost exclusively recommends the latter. However, it is in fact quite unsafe to take 3 grams of slow release niacin a day, for every 500 mg of slow release niacin is the equivalent of 1 gram of fast niacin in its effect on the liver. Thus, if you want to substitute slow release niacin for 3 grams of instant niacin, you should take no more than 1.5 grams of slow release niacin a day. This does not mean you will experience exactly the same effect/ benefit if you do. In my case, I find that a gram of slow release niacin (which is the equivalent of two grams of fast niacin) and up to a gram of fast niacin a day produces the best synergy of benefits in me, with each enhancing the other. This book also recommends inositol hexanicotinate (it says you need to take twice as much as the instant niacin to get the same benefit). I guess the good doctor and Andrew Saul speak from their experience. However, I haven't found this product to be effective at all, and there is mounting evidence that inositol hexanicotinate is not very bio-available.Besides for these few complaints about the value of this book, I highly recommend it, even if you are not wondering how effective niacin might be for you, and whether you should take it or not. it is written in refreshing, easy to follow, non-jargon prose and if you read it, you will know more about niacin than most medical doctors do.For lowering cholesterol, 1.5 grams of slow release niacin a day is best, or take a gram of slow release niacin and up to a gram of fast release niacin per day. If you are thinking primarily of your cholesterol, "Cholesterol Control Without Diet! The Niacin Solution" by Dr. William B Parsons Jr. would be more up your alley. However, the latter is not nearly as exciting a read as the current read.I highly recommend "Niacin - The Real Story".Jean

Horribly Written
This book should be called “Orthomolecular Medicine”. It’s more about that than niacin itself. Niacin is a very healing nutrient, but you can find a lot more information online than you can in this book. It’s very poorly written, and the authors contradict themselves in every other paragraph.

Love this book! Very informative on niacin and the research behind it.
It explains what doctors have tested in their clinics and found what has worked, but somehow, due to many legal issues, its not published as proof for supporting many conditions. I worked in alternative medicine and also we have used niacin this way, I was surprised to find so much research going back years on this, and yet we still don't use this vitamin as often as we should be, and almost everyone can benefit.Just before you do buy niacin, please make sure don't get the non-flushing type, as the flushing is the medicinal part! Just have lower dose to adjust, and increase slowly.

Healing from everything is possibile 🍃 🍂
I read this book in less than a week. It's magical because it allows you to enter into the stories of those who have managed to heal with vitamin B3. Niacin is miraculous, I'm using it for healing along with a deep detox. Together with this book I also recommend "Everything will be fine, I promise you" by Faouzi Zouhair. It is a book of positive thoughts that will accompany your recovery. I assure you that they will be the two most miraculous books you will ever read. 🍃🍂
