Much better than the DC3 I had before this, more consistent over the diamond plates they have. Mine came with a small chip on the edge of the white side but it still has a very workable space even for kitchen knives and axes if you want a quick service before carving. Even with the 0.1 micron stated grit on the white side I always recommend a strop to eliminate the burr and bring out the real polish of the edge that it can bring. With this stone I can get my good knives to hair popping sharp and even my cheap beater knives well maintained to handle anything I need them for. I've taken this with me to work in a kitchen and even family parties to quickly touch up knives to make prep and carving go smoother, especially when it's not well looked upon or there is no time to give a proper service to whatever tools you need to use

It's absolutely capable to create a razor sharp edge. The medium side removes material rather aggressively. Fast enough to bring a rather dull edge to an apex within minutes. The fine side brings the edge to a mirror polish. the one I got has some ripple or pattern that resembles wood grain on the white side. It might not be necessary (or desirable), but I sanded mine flat. The bottom line is, it's a field sharpener. It produces a very nice razor sharp pragmatic edge, but it's very hard to produce a good looking edge. Practice will make it better. I advice using lighter pressure. Just don't expect it to replace a good set of water stone. Edit: After using it for a couple of days, I've came to a conclusion that... this stone actually is amazing... the white side, as I said earlier, is grooved, and I polished that out. I also made the center of the white stone ever so slightly higher than the sides by grinding it on a diamond stone and apply pressure off center. That's because the edge of the stone is sharp and rough. that creates an ugly scratch pattern on the edge when the edge is in contact with the edge of the stone. After that, the stone became amazing. It produces an absolutely beautiful mirror polish that out shines my 8000 grit kitayama water stone. I hope there's a full size version of this and I'll definitely use that as a final polishing stone.

Der Schleifstein hat eine gute Größe für unterwegs und ist in dem Lederetui gut aufgehoben! Er hat 2 Seiten mit unterschiedlichen Körnungen. Die etwas gröbere Körnungen ist geeignet um kleine Scharten an der Schneidkante auszubessern, die feinere Körnung für den endschliff. Er ist geeignet für Taschenmesser und kleinere Jagd oder Camping Messer! Fällkniven Qualität welche auch für den Sport CC4 gilt. 👍
