Auditing For Dummies
J**.
Easier To Handle Than My Textboob!
My auditing text book for my Master's program is more dense, (it is a book not a boob), and may be more comprehensive but I found the concepts easier to grasp from reading this, especially the way Maire Loughlan, CPA, the author, describes materiality or monetary unit sampling...Maybe BECAUSE I am already reading the textbook, but still...her writing is very engaging and she doesn't skimp on details while maintaining the "K.I.S.S" method. (I doubt that anyone who is a genuine certified dummy would take auditing anyway). I recommend this for anyone who wants a different perspective, something easier-to-read than a dry, old, tiny print textbook(that dry but adequate book would be the "Auditing 11th Edition, a Risk-Based Approach," Johnstone et al).

Good
Book was in good condition when received. Papers were quite thin and might get torn if lots of pressure is put on it

An excellent introduction to auditing
As an introduction to the field of auditing this is quite a solid recommendation. CAs, CPAs, and the like may find some of this content redundant or overly simplistic, but for those of us with little knowledge of the field the book does an excellent job of covering the role and task of an auditor, as well as diving into adequate detail on subjects such as sampling and materiality. The book is well written, easy to read, and nicely organized. Overall, an excellent introduction to the auditing world!

Great supplemental book for preparing for CPA exam
While I was preparing for the Audit portion of the CPA exam, I was having trouble even remotely understanding the Audit sampling section of my CPA Exam preparation course. After scanning the table of contents via Amazon preview, I noticed that this book had 10-12 pages that covered that sampling. After I got the book and studied that section, I had a 100% better understanding of Audit Sampling in about 30 minutes. I was then able to easily answer (most) of the questions of my prep course.Additionally, I found some of the other chapters very helpful in explaining other auditing topics in more colloquial language than my CPA course used. This helped me understand difficult topics more quickly and allowed me to maximize my study time. Most of the topics I read about were heavily tested on my exam, which I barely passed. I don't think I would have passed the exam had I not had this book. Considering the time and cost of preparing for the exam, this book was invaluable.
