Urdu-English/English-Urdu Practical Dictionary (Hippocrene Practical Dictionary)

This dictionary is OK, and there admittedly aren’t many choices. It has a number of problems though. The script is too small, making the Urdu hard to read. It also, frustratingly, does not give the gender of Urdu nouns when you look them up from English, so you have to look them up again in the Urdu section to find the gender. I have also found at least three mistakes - it gives ‘ankura’ instead of ‘ankur’ and it had the wrong genders for ‘sarhad’ and ‘salgira.’ There is also at least one headword which was printed ‘insert headword’ instead of the actual headword. All in all, it’s been an OK resource, but I probably would advise looking for something else.

There is no "grammar section", despite what is claimed in the description. The English - Urdu side has about 33 entries per page. The positive aspect is that there are synonyms provided on both sides. No doubt this is still one of the few Urdu dictionaries out there that include transcription throughout.
