I struggle with shaving due to hair that just loves to grow sideways and inwards. I can’t shave close, there has to be a shadow or there’ll be chaos. I had high hopes for the OneBlade and it’s a nice product but it just shaves too close for me. The Remington Durablade gets the stubble length just right for my skin, getting a nice even shave with hair above the skin in all places. I feel like this product was made for me! No blades to replace and an incredible 5 year guarantee (6 if you register it!). What a win for my skin!

For me, this strikes about the best balance in terms of a timmer. * I can do my balls with zero problems * Guards work well, the longest being perfect for my stubble * Usb charging is very convenient for the kind of travelling I do * Gives a close enough shave with no blade replacements. * Feels well built and waterproof About the only slight negative is I would like 1 extra slighly longer guard.

Honestly, I'm treating as suspect the claims by some reviews that this rips hair out. They really sound to me like competitors trying to sabotage sales of rival products by poisoning reviews. I sought this shaver out, the brand specifically, because the Remington shaver I currently have has been completely reliable for about ten years now (it's a single rechargeable AA, and the battery is still very good, quite remarkable for a rechargeable battery). It's never ripped hair out of my face - until recently - and that is because *I* have messed with it. I've had the whole thing apart a couple of times and now one of the tiny screws holding the shaver plate flat won't stay in place and keeps popping out so that the plate opens away from the other plate making for hair ripping - so, that is MY fault. I tried this one and find it shaves ever better (closer) than my first one, so I'm quite happy about that. Not a single hair rip, no rawness, nothing negative in how it shaves (and my face is sensitive). I'm a bit bewildered by the charging. The LED is orange, out of the box. I put it on charge waiting for it to turn green for charged. It didn't. Apparently orange IS the charged indicator, so it came fully charged. I don't like that it's USB charging and not battery, but I couldn't get one the same as I have. In my view the cable really doesn't sit well into the shaver, either. Nor do I like the packaging; it's really tough, sharp card that is hard to open and it's so sharp, in fact, that I cut my finger on the corner whilst fighting free the shaver for use. Aside from that I do like this shaver. Time will tell if it will last as long a my other Remington.

I was really pleased with this for a year or so, then the most used comb broke at one of its two fixing points. Replacement combs, which only come in packs of three, are more expensive than the original price of the trimmer with combs, so I ended up buying another trimmer, this time from a brand that has sturdier combs (and with three fixing points).

The shaver was purchased for travel, the shaver works well on cheeks and neck but trimming combs are difficult to fit/remover and don’t cut a soft beard consistently. So OK for a weekend trip but not a week or more.
