High quality tool for disassembling and assembling the bolt on an M1 Garand, M14, M1A. Precision made in USA. Money back guarantee. Made from a milled aluminum block with a steel operating handle and pins with a steel plunger with hardened pin for removing the extractor. Improved variation of the original G.I. tool turns a three- handed job into a quick, easy- to-perform operation. Two-position handle provides extra leverage to cam the bolt forward and retain the entire bolt while depressing the ejector. Extractor lifts out and drops in easily while other parts stay put. Unlike similar tools, this one has a spring return plunger.

Works well with one minor problem.
Works well. I've done bolt disassembly and reassembly by hand before, and it isn't hard... unless you slip and let the ejector fly across the room... or you have a stubborn extractor that won't go back in. This tool makes the job a LOT easier. My only complaint is with the retaining pin that holds the pivot pin in place. It is tiny, and comes off very easily. When I took the bubble wrap the tool came tightly wrapped in, I didn't notice the retaining pin had come out. I had to retrieve the wrap from the recycling bin, and carefully cut it open until I heard the pin hit the floor, and then I had to look for it for a few seconds. When I pushed it into the normal place for a retaining pin, it came off again. It had to be pressed all the way on to seem to stay. I think I'll replace it with one of the little tiny split rings like a key ring. They won't just fall off, but are still easy to remove when necessary. I'd recommend the manufacturer or a purchaser upgrade the retaining pin to a split ring. Even a small paperclip threaded through the hole would be better. I've added a photo of mine with a split ring installed.

Get a Handle on It!
If you ever intend on disassembling/assembling the bolt on your M1A/M14/M1 Garand rifle, this is the tool that you need.Use the rearmost hole for the M1 Garand bolt and the most forward hole for the M1A/M14 bolt. The unit is well constructed and changing the handle position is quite easy.I found the clevis pin clip to be lacking in strength; however, I simply pushed the pin all the way in to prevent it from coming out of the clevis pin and becoming lost.Insert the bolt into the tool, slide the bolt forward until the ejector is compressed, hold the bolt with the handle, and press the unit down on a solid surface to the press the extractor pin from its hole in the bolt. Then, remove the extractor pin by hand and slowly allow the bolt to move rearward to disassemble the rest of the bolt. When assembling the bolt, ensure that you do not press the unit against a hard surface, because this might interfere with installing the extractor pin. With that said, there is metal-to-metal contact with the bolt and the handle. I didn't care for that so I purchased a package of VACU-TITE vinyl vacuum caps at a local auto parts store and covered the end of the handle with one of the vinyl caps (see accompanying picture). That made me a happy camper, because there is no more metal-to-metal contact. You may also consider dipping the end of the handle in some Performix Plasti Dip to coat the handle, but this is time consuming and expensive. The unit is small enough to fit in a range bag pocket for field use or it is at home on you favorite workbench. All in all, it is an excellent tool and negates using a punch and hammer while trying to hold the ejector in to remove the extractor pin.

Well Constructed and Simple To Use
Immediately upon receipt, I popped in a Garand bolt assembly to evaluate the tool. Worked like a champ with truly minimal effort. I followed the advice of a previous reviewer and added a rubber cap and a duct-tap wrap to eliminate the tool arm contacting the bolt's surface. The tool definitely simplifies the bolt disassembly process and is worth the investment!

my fingers just won't do what I tell them as often as I'd like. I've had this dissembly tool on my Wish ...
I've always disassembled my M1 bolts by hand but this past year the task has become more difficult due to arthritis, my fingers just won't do what I tell them as often as I'd like. I've had this dissembly tool on my Wish List for almost a year today it arrived, rather promptly so I grabbed an M1 and pulled out the bolt. Place the bolt in the tool, depress the lever and push out the extractor, then release the lever for full dis-assembly. I reversed the process and installed everything in a matter of seconds, this tool works. The device itself appears plenty sturdy for years of use.

You need this tool!
There's no substitute for this item. There are a few other companies making these but this one is the best and has the best price by far.Trust me- you don't want to take an M14 bolt apart without one and you SURELY don't want to attempt to reassemble one without it. I never did find my extractor after it launched somewhere in my basement. And NOBODY locally carries spare M14 bolt parts. I called every gun shop in the area.Buy it once and you'll have it for life.
