The Series That Just Gets Better and Better
The world of Henrietta and Cabeswater becomes more and more fascinating with each book. I've changed my mind: this is my favourite book in the series (although, with book 4 finally being released this is probably due to change again).Blue Lily, Lily Blue finds Blue and her raven boys back on the hunt for Glendower, the mysterious and ancient Welsh king. This book is by far the most plot driven of the three. When before magical trees and waking dreams seemed like a beautiful idea, it finally all feels real. The characters are faced with their own mortality throughout the book. The stakes are higher now they know who else shares their mission, but the reality of it all finally sets in. I've said it before and I'll say it again: no writer can create a fantasy series with characters quite so three dimensional and self aware as Stiefvater can.Adam, the focal character of this book, truly flourishes in Blue Lily, Lily Blue, reaching new unimaginable potential that you would have never imagined from book 1. In each book a character undergoes a major character arc that is written so fluidly that it's almost impossible to believe that their potential wasn't seen from the beginning, and Adam has shown the greatest character development yet.Blue also really comes into her own in this book, and I was able to connect with her character a lot more when I began to see her feisty personality rather than be told about it. For Ronan and Gansey, walls come down for both of them in different ways and I saw them in new lights, as did the other characters. I love this idea Stiefvater writes about that people are unknowable, even to those closest to them, and it is this blend of progression of character and plot development that makes the series so vivid.I love it when a series follows a theme throughout, and The Raven Cycle does just that with several running motifs. It's a shame that this series is so near the end, because I would gladly read about the adventures Blue and the boys have forever.Diversity Note: gay protagonistWarnings: mentions of past child abuse, blood, death

MAGICAL
this might be my favorite book of the quartet. but i love all of them beyond everything so...the best thing of this serie is that the characters stay with you forever, wherever and whenever you go, and when i think about TRC i think about woods, maps, stars, grass, cars, old books, mint, farms, ravens, skies.. all these aesthetically pleasing and wild things and this is so beautiful, so if you're here because you're considering to read or not this book or the whole serie, just DO IT because im so happy i did. ✨

I love this series!
If you've read the previous two books in this series I think you will probably love this one. Its Maggie's classic dreamy prose, and the characters you have come to love, plus a few new ones, some adorable, some awful. It was nice to see a different side to Adam this time round, and the moments between Gansey and Blue were so fragile and brilliant. I loved Gansey's professor friend, who was a bit bonkers, and the guy guarding the entrance to the cave (who's name excapes me!). Ronan has less of a prominent role in this book, but what story he has is brilliant, and heartbreaking. All the characters backstories are intriguing and I enjoyed finding out more about them.I can see some people might criticise this book for having less plot, and being one big build up to the final book, but I think with this series I trust Maggie will take us on the right journey, and her writing is so beautiful, and her characters so interesting and sympathetic and well-developed, that I am more than happy to come along for the ride and see where we end up. It does feel like a symphonic build up to the grand finale though, and the end is an epic cliffhanger so I am desperate for the final book to come out!

Slightly strange compared to the previous two books
Loving the Raven Cycle series but this book - the third instalment - was a lot more peculiar than the previous two. Whilst I did enjoy it, I much preferred The Dream Thieves because we didn't see much character development in this one and I felt the story didn't proceed with the plot either. It starts with them all going into a cave in search of something but then the rest of the book is just sort of floating along and they don't actually achieve anything. Relationships don't really develop either apart from a tiny bit between two characters, and the book sort of forgets the whole idea of the first book: if you kiss your true love, he will die.I didn't enjoy this book enough to give it four stars but I liked it better than three so maybe three and a half overall? Everything that happened in this book didn't really get explained and things got a lot weirder... I think things will pick up in the next and last book so looking forward to that :)
