Ecobee 3 lite 2nd Generation Thermostat Black EB-STATE3LT-02

Bought 2, both arrived in good condition although strangely in different manufacturing origin boxes, although in operation identical. Connected to HomeKit and both work flawlessly. They are connected to a mesh network and each to different access points. Have not had a single drop in 5 months of use. Only 1 speed of operation. But this was known from the specs. Connected to AC only, roof HVAC system. Works well, and plenty of customisation options through the web portal. HomeKit app is basic but functional. Recommended.

Opted for the ecobee instead of the nest and I couldn’t be happier. It brings much more flexibility and manual options.

Touch sensor is terrible, suffering to adjust temperature and set up settings. Other then that works fine with great connection of HomeKit.

The thermostat has taken the simple task of turning on and off your ac to an extremely over complicated process. The thermostat requires you save a schedule to what temperature you want your AC to be on. If you live in a hot country you know that when you are not home you don’t need it to be on but with this, it’s always cooling and the entire system is so dumb you can’t even just leave the cooling on (not the auto setting where the fan turns off) without messing your entire automation system

Though it does integrate with homekit, the controls via the apple ecosystem are very inconsistent. Sometimes it works sometimes my place is boiling when it should be chilling. Additionally sometimes it just decides to not turn off even though the app and the physical device says it's off... Woken up freezing to death with the only solution being yanking the device off the wall.

I have standard gas ducted heating that had a very old slide thermostat with basic temp readout. I was lucky that my heater board had a ‘C’ terminal for 24v power, however the unit includes an optional power circuit if yours doesn’t. I originally wanted this just to be able to control the heater through wifi coming home or leaving. This unit also includes scheduling which is a huge bonus for me. The thermostat learns how long it takes to heat the area and starts accordingly based on its current temperature when in schedule mode. I will add some of the room sensors down the track to assist with a cool area of the home. Be aware the lite model doesn’t include a motion sensor as part of the thermostat, so is unaware if you are occupying that particular area or not without the add on sensors. The standard model (most expensive) does include this. This is a great add on product that has assisted heating my home much easier than before. Highly recommended

Awesome product...has saved me lots of money in the two years it has been installed. I bought this based on the recommendation of my new furnace installer. He did the installation but I did the programming. Programming features are very nice. It recognizes when I am about 1500 feet from home and changes to the "at home" setting several minutes before I arrive. Very nice to be able to control the device through the internet. I could instantly check status of my house from 9,000 miles away when on an extended trip.

After researching and reading many reviews about this thermostat, decided to purchase from US Amazon. Surprising it worked very well in Australia. We had a very old analog thermostat (using mercury and springs) which replaced it with this Ecobee3 Lite. It made our air-conditioning system new and smart. The Apple HomeKit integration is much better than I expected. It has temperature sensor and humidity sensor. The smart schedule feature is very advanced and learning the current temperature to adjust the setting automatically. The Ecobee app is great and it receives regular updates. Love the bee flying animation on the screen at the beginning of the setup. Maybe it is a bug, but during the setup, when choosing Celsius as the display unit, it still uses Fahrenheit during one of the following steps: setting the comfort temperatures. After that, everything is Celsius.
