KYBSR4064 Strut Plus Complete Corner Unit Assembly, Black

I can not recommend this product as I'm not sure whether it is genuine or not. I ordered a driver and passenger side and the driver side had a much higher quality top strut mount that I would come to expect from an oem part. The passenger side strut mount looked like a Chinese knock off, with noticeably lesser quality rubber, cheap threaded studs and it even had different size nuts to hold it on compared to the driver side. the passenger side was SAE and the driver side was metric. I ended up sending the passenger side back because I thought someone switched the strut mount on it but when I got the replacement, it was the same thing. I think KYB has changed the way they manufacture products for the worst and I probably got an older, better product for the driver side and a new cost saving low quality strut for the passenger side. Either that or there are counterfeit struts being sold here. I do not recommend

These are great so far. I thought the ride might end up being too firm for such a light car (2001 Toyota Corolla) but it’s just right. The fronts installed in less than 30min. The rear took a little longer because of how much you have to take apart in the car (see rear strut review for details). Before the replacement the front would bounce quite a bit over bumps so I assumed the springs might be garbage and decided to go with the full assembled strut. The ride height and level of the car look balanced after installation so I guess that was a good decision. Once you add the strut mount to the total price if purchased separately then the price of the complete assembled strut here on Amazon makes it an exceptional value. Delivery was also quick and no damage in packaging. There is a difference between the all four struts because of the mount angle and brake brackets. The SR4064 is the front passenger side. The SR4065 is the front driver side.

Improved my ride quality and handling immensely compared to my old struts with 160K miles on them. Was easy to put on the car just took a bit of time. Took it to a mechanic for an alignment and I asked for the report, everything was perfectly within OEM specifications.There is much less body roll, the car feels much more like it should. It also no longer bottoms out on every bump in the road, and it doesnt bounce on the highway. If I ever buy a car over 100K miles again, replacing the struts will always be in the plans. It is completely worth it!KYB makes the OEM struts for toyota, so these are pretty close. If I had to guess though these are closer to the Corolla S struts than the Corolla LE struts. But that will matter little to most people, they are just a tiny bit stiffer than the OEM LE/CE/VE struts.

Get the preloaded spring, and save lots of time and realize what a disservice mechanics do. You only need a couple sockets, possibly a breaker bar, and a torque wrench. Doing both in an hour is pretty realistic. While in disbelief over what they charge $500-800 to do, I also didn't see why they suggest 'alignment', since no steering was affected, and all is fine. The performance is better. Slow speed isn't too noticeable but the wandering on the freeway (floating) is gone and braking performance is immensely improved.

Quick and easy installation. An impact wrench is required to remove the knuckle bolts on the old strut. A torque wrench rated higher than 152 is required to torque the knuckle bolts on installation. Very much improved the car handling.
