I bought a jacket at jc penney same thing basket weave classic fit is the color 400 Blue

Why are the shoulder pads so thick on this suit, as if it was from the 80's?

Our Tailored Fit and Slim Fits have a more modern canvas shoulder that is not as thick, and has a more natural fit. Smart Wash suits also have the more modern canvas shoulder. Hope this helps.
