Excellent little robot
This is an excellent little robot. It navigates well over thresholds and although the suction power is not that of a manual vacuum, it will vacuum constantly until the job is done, freeing you up to do other things. Initially, I was irritated when I could not connect to the robot using my Android phone. However, if this happens to you, click on the link provided by the app. This provides clear instructions to manually update the software on the robot. Once this was done, the robot worked perfectly under the control of my Android phone.

Don't waste your money, buy anything but this
Here is my first experience of a ‘premium’ product. I was surprised to find the robot made from cheap feel plastic, compared to premium feel plastic, rubber protectors and a glass top on the generic Chinese cheap model, which I currently own. Slightly disappointed as I expected more, but the proof is in the pudding, setup was painless and of it went on its first clean and mapping run.My initial thoughts were my god this is noisy, the wheel motors are very loud, the beater makes an awful noise, and every time it bumps into something (which is all the time) a loud click, the previous robot was a good 15db quieter according to my meter.I’m already having buyers regret of investing in a brand new model, but as I wanted the mapping as needed no go areas and zones, which my other one did not support, I’m sticking with it. So 65 minutes later the robot decided it needed to come back to charge, it got stuck and couldn’t get on the base; I realise I’ve put the base too close to a side cabinet, but I gave it a helpful nudge on, I can see a map of where it’s cleaned and it looks good, but when I go to the map section of the app, strangely there is no map.Of course I now need to move the base, and with that comes the realisation I will have to recreate the map as it can’t simply recalibrate (no idea why not when the competition can). So into a new room, against an empty wall on the centre. After charging it up, I started the robot, it moved forward, then moves a tiny bit around the room before telling me it doesn’t know where it is and stops. I put it back on the base to try again. Once again it moved forward and then just sits there, eventually saying the same message. I'm guessing that the robot must think it’s in the previous room, although there is no map saved, I started some troubleshooting and reset the robot, deleted it from the app and re-paired it etc.Next attempt, same problem. Next stop, I contacted Neato tech support, go through all the steps (which I'd already done), same problem, eventually I was told to let it come out then when sits there, press pause then resume on the app, this seemed to work and by magic off it went. Now we are onto to its third proper run, unbelievably it got stuck, haven driven into a solid wall, by this time battery was down to 40% so I ended up putting it on the base, to charge up and try again. 4th attempt it got into a different room and then decided it didn’t know where it was, again by this time it’s been running almost an hr, so back to square one.5th attempt (remembering all the time, I have to let it come off the base, then press pause and then resume otherwise it doesn’t know where it is and sits there). It goes through every room, battery runs low so off it goes to the charger base, except it stops on its way and says it doesn’t know it’s way..6th attempt, it makes it back to the room where the base is, drives past it several times, drives into it 5 times, then promptly drives past it, into a wall 4ft away and just sits there saying returning to base.I've spoken with Neato tech support several times throughout this, they are great, really empathetic and understanding, although I was shocked to learn they have had a lot of similar calls, and then thanked me for my patience, and told me they will be sending out updates to the app and to the robot to improve this. I'm not sure what I am meant to do in the meantime as it doesn't work! Anyway, I left it over night to try again in the morning, by this time, I have spent the best part of 7hrs trying to get this thing to work and to be fair I have lost all faith in it, especially as you can imagine, I’ve spent 7 x times the price and appear to have an expensive door stop at. Aside from the noise and cheap materials, I’m honestly at a loss as to how a brand new product and model can perform so poorly.Anyway after it had charged up overnight, I set it off this morning to create a map, it came away from its base and started cleaning. 2 mins later it stopped cleaning, drove around with no vacuum then said it had completed cleaning and promptly docked itself to the wall next to the dock before saying something is wrong.Every attempt to restart it is the same as described above, it comes away from the dock and then just sits there before deciding it doesn’t know where it is and despite having driven straight of the dock, it can’t find its way back. It’s clear to me this product simply fails to be a robot vacuum. Suffice to say I shall be returning it today (thank god for Amazon return policies) and going to the competitors.

A good cleaning helper to the household
We live on one level (a bungalow in UK) with hard wooden floors throughout the 190sq metres. My initial observations are that the D8 is a good little cleaner, but…— it’s best to move furniture — especially dining chairs — out of it’s way, or it spends to much time negotiating spindly furniture legs.— empty the dust box, clean the brush and the rollers after every run.— it’s noisier than I was expecting— it’s not a substitute for manual vacuuming but it is definitely a very good assistant.D8 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️My initial observations on the app are that it is not robust and often doesn’t update the history; nor create drawing polygon “no go areas” (no good on a house like mine that bends in the middle.App ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️Website ⭐️But, I wouldn’t do without the D8 and I think for the “used very good” price I paid of £391, it’s a good addition to my household.

Have patience with it it’s got to learn your house
It’s very good 1st it’s got to learn your house then when it’s got it you can make no go lines on the app and as it goes it will get better as it gets used to your home stick with it it’s a brilliant machine I find it’s getting better every time we’ll worth the money

Great suction but..
Really powerful, equivalent to my dyson v8, however the app REALLY lets this product down and I’m thinking about returning it for that reason. I also have a eufy robot vacuum and the app is brilliant. If they collaborated, this could be the best robo vacuum of all time!!

I like Neato brand but with no support it is a useless device
This supposed to be the3rd Neato Robot. Robot XV , lasted for 10 years until the fatidic laser problem. During Covid in 2020 got the D4, better software and smarter robot, small software issues but died in 2023 so lasted 3 years for the same reason in November, laser problems. so finally I decided to do a last dance with Neato D8 knowing the company is out of business I like the flat shape of robot.I got the brand new D8, installed the android 11app then had to install manually the firmware with my notebook connected to D8, after that nothing , just red and blue lights. D8 Robot never moved and firmware is not working at all. I tried to contact neato support with the app and only got messages from bot saying someone will contact me later, even today 3 weeks later no answer. At the end no support and I returned the robot.I like the brand and the shape much better than rounded Roomba's but with no support it is a useless device. I had no choice and got another brand

Works Great. Then Breaks and it is impossible to repair
I had an older model Neato for years. Loved it. It finally broke. I bought this one to replace. It worked well but broke after 3 months or so. I shipped it off to be repaired. Then total silence. Neato doesn't respond. Simply horrible customer service. Price is "great" for a reason--If it seems to be too good then... Buy something else
