I am astounded at the negative reviews concerning no alcohol. This is made in Mexico and is not made with the American alcohol process. It is made with water. No nasty alcohol bitter taste. With the American process the smell out of the bottle is very strong because the scent is being carried by the alcohol . The Mexican process does not have the same aggressive smell out of the bottle but the quality of the finished product when the Mexican process is used is INCREDIBLE. There is nothing other than water and vanilla and no vanillin. American process "pure vanilla extract" must contain at least 35% alcohol (making it a 70 proof alcoholic drink) and can also contain sugar, glycerin, propylene glycol, dextrose, and/or corn syrup (liquid or dried) and can still be labelled "pure." Why use a product with all that alcohol and other stuff in it with the end result being a product that delivers inferior taste.

This vanilla it is wonderful, the smell is absolutely divine. I use for baking and I put it in my oatmeal and my rice pudding.

Was Looking for affordable vanilla extract since I started putting it in daily coffee. Apparently In US "extract" must use alcohol... This is made in Mexico in water with no alcohol. With alcohol, you smell a strong vanilla but not with water. So I thought I got ripped off... a dirty bean in dark water for the gringo !! BUT... After a few days of adding to my coffee..I love it -- Even more than the US Alcohol based extract that now smells strong but with alcohol/astringent quality. Strange. US is sharp/astringent... Mexico is soft dark and musky and.. Delicious. A little research and you'll see the vanilla orchid is native to Mexico... So chances are they know how to use it. I also bought some beans to soak in alcohol to see how that turns out... Easy to make your own extract and perhaps a bit cheaper still. But till then this is great.

I was introduced to Mexican vanilla 4 years ago and it changed my baking process for vanilla. Back To Basics Pure Vanilla Extract is my choice for baking as it is not alcohol based and the flavor seems to permeate the item being made, such as an oat muffin. The price is very good also. Thank you.

I'm really surprised to see some of the other reviews. For me, this product is amazing, flavor-wise. I could smell it in the pancakes I made and in my coffee creamer. My only complaint is the bottle is plastic. I would continue to purchase this on the regular if it was in a glass bottle.

I was looking for a vanilla that does not have alcohol and have been using this product for a couple of years now and have to have it in my kitchen at all times because it’s fantastic!

This is my favorite. I only order this brand.
