Western Digital 1 TB RE3 SATA 3 Gb/s 7200 RPM 32 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Enterprise Hard Drive - WD1002FBYS

The drive arrived before I expected it to in a small box. This box was packed with a thick layer of brown anti-static foam perfectly cut to fit the box as well as the drive in it's center. The drive itself as in a sealed anti-static bag. So the shipping gets a 12 out of 10.I bought a referb so the following are in relation to that.The label had some slight nicks and scratches but, the casing was flawless.The drive works perfectly, instantly. I have not had a single issue. SMART does not report a single error though the "Power-On Time" attribute has a raw value of 5399. I am interpreting this as hours because as any smaller value other than half hours is less time than I have had the drive on myself. This works out to almost 225 days for hours or 112.5 days for half hours. Drives came new, sealed, and packed nice. Quick delivery. The have Dell logo on them but are the WD drives. download WD test tool and tested each one in a external usb case before adding them to QNAP TS-420U NAS. They all checked fine. Very quit and very cool. Registering them on the WD site. No warranty via WD direct. Have to go through Vendor on these. that sucks! Oh well. to late now. I have a dead line. Installed in NAS and setup three drive raid5. Been running in test bed for a few days now. Lots of transfers as I find the correct setting for the trunking via my HP Procurve they are plugged into. Ready to install in client rack now. hoping i get many years of use on these :)

Had to Format the drive to actually get it to accept anything. Also, this product came with zero cables. I was lucky to salvage enough from older computers but you are basically only getting a hard drive and nothing else. That could have been communicated better. As far as performance it is quiet and has good speed. Overall the product is great especially with the price point. Buyer Beware you will have to buy cables and probably mounting equipment as well.

I bought one of these in december to replace a 5 year old wd drive in my array that was beginning to fail. I replaced it with this one in january, and by march the raid controller removed it because of too many read errors. The drive info indicates that it had exceeded its smart threshold - meaning that the automatic sector replacement that the drive does on its own had run out of spare sectors!!! Even though the power on hours only indicates 3300, it had already reallocated 1300 sectors. By comparison, the drive beside it has been running for 21,000 hours (> 3 years) and has reallocated 0 sectors.Worse still the seller does not even have the courtesy to reply to my messages. Not even a polite "sorry bud, you're screwed".it seems like Amazon will allow anybody to sell any crap on their site.

Once it finally arrived, no fault of the seller it was amazing how well it worked. I love it and I suggest everyone that is looking for an internal SATA 1T hard drive to look into this one. It has some great formatting software already on the drive in it's own partition as well as other very useful utility programs. You have about 982 GB left to format and use for installing your O/S and storage.

for a 1t drive the price is dead on , the quality is alright. they can make a little noise, but that is normal from a HARD DRIVE.

Got 2 of these to raid in a machine to backup and upon installing the first it was dead the second one is running fine.
