Conceptual Algebra
I use these tiles to teach students with disabilities who are enrolled in high school. Before moving on to models and abstract symbols, it is important for students to have access to manipulatives, which is something that teachers are well aware of. Students, after receiving the appropriate instruction, will be able to utilize these tiles to represent virtually any algebraic topic.

Outstanding.
There is nothing else like them. They work. I found algebra tile mat templates on-line to organize tile placement and optimize on-task learning. Moves division to an inverse of multiplication like nothing I have ever been able to explain. Shows simplifying expressions and like terms. Once you see what they can do for your classroom you will wonder why they aren't mandatory for sixth grade ! Be sure to invest in zip top freezer bags for storage.

From a teacher...
I recently attended a workshop, during which we used these tiles extensively to teach several different math standards. I love this product, and I am excited to use them with my upcoming students.

An indespensable learning tool for modeling solution methods for algebraic equations
If your school does not provide these and you teach pre-algebra or algebra, you need a classroom set. If you're home schooling, you need two individual sets. I bought the very full set that will accomodate 30 students (more working in pairs). The only thing to have handy is some super glue as sone students will find a way to separate the positive color side from the red, negative side. These seem at least average if not better in durability. Also included is one teacher transparancy set in case you don't have a document projector.

Great tool
This item is exactly how it is described. My only wish is that the individual packs could be resealed. My students tore open the bags they came in and I had to tape them back together in order to keep from losing them. Also each individual pack sounds like it has a lot of pieces, but in reality there is very little each student can do so it is best to group students together.

Okay...
We shared these tiles between two classrooms and let the students work in pairs. Some of them began breaking apart, but they were still useful in the classroom.
