EXCELLENT BOX- has 12 compartments across which is how E12/24/96 work, nice and tight, compact
I have been struggling to store 0805 and 0603 components for years. My old solution was to keep them on the cut tape in the little bags from Digikey but once the parts get loose they're like fleas. Luckily they're cheap but a pain to get. The design well done- I like the multiples of 12 for components- finally someone knows how these things work. Great- I'm going to get a couple more now.

MUST HAVE if leveled up to SMD components!!!
I was making do with the tic-tac and little craft cup organizers but organization was driving me CRAZY and still felt insufficient.I pulled the trigger on a variety of 3 of these boxes, and I LOVE them now!!!The pocket covers hold closed VERY well. The 96 version, all small cups holds a wide range of values of caps and resistors, so you'll always have what you need in a small organizer.Assuming you buy the passives in tape form, cut the tape for 4 chips a piece, and they fit GREAT in a cup. And each little cup will hold 50 in that manner. And 50 is a GREAT price break point for passives on Digikey. Trust me, don't get less, and it still only costs a few bucks.1 weak point of the boxes is just the labels that come with it. They tend to start lifting of the covers. I press them down again when I notice, but they Aidetek could use a different supplier that has better adhesive backing on the labelsRecommendation for Aidetek: PLEASE tweak the cup design so the bottoms are slightly filleted. Doing so makes removing chips at the bottom much easier, and it won't have a significant volume penalty. Some reviews complain that the organizers are smaller than expected... And I APPRECIATE that! These are SMD components people! Do you want to FILL A SHELF with them? I'd rather have them take up very little space on my bench, right where I need them, and have EVERY passive and IC in them.If you work with SMDs and have a wide variety, you will love these.Get a box with small AND large pockets if you have SMD to DIP adapter boards. With headers on the adapters, they fit in the larger pockets. If placed thoughtfully, you can get a large handful in each larger cup. Then when protoyping on breadboard you also have mounted ICs and chips ready to grab.

This box is fantastic
This is a nicely designed product. The hinge for the clam-shell is not cheap folded plastic but has an actual pin, so it should last. Each of the individually lidded containers latch nicely, with a reassuring snap. The hinge design for those is also well done, each with two molded pins per lid. The material is very tough plastic, and has no noticeable smell. It comes with a fairly cheap feeling pair of tweezers and a sheet of lid labels. I would have preferred another sheet or two and forget the tweezers, but this is a minor quibble. Inexplicably, the bottom has what amounts to an ad for the very same box. I'm not sure what this accomplishes since I already bought the thing, and the top has all the information anyone would need to buy one. I would have preferred the top be blank or some simple logo, and the bottom have the company info. This would be a lot more tasteful, but it's a SMD box, not a fashion statement, so it doesn't matter that much in the end.My only real issue with it is that the inventory sticker is one of those cheap-ass ones that only come off in multiple pieces with substantial elbow-grease. In my case I wasn't able to get it off without leaving a minor blemish on the textured surface. NOTE TO WHOEVER DID THIS: If you can't leave it off or get a better one, for gods sake put it on the bottom.

Small but Great
The media could not be loaded. This was an impulse buy. I realized how small this was when it arrived. Nonetheless, it doesn't take away the fact that this is a fantastically made box. It's durable as all get-out and the enclosures click shut and stay shut. I like how they're individual - that was THE biggest reason I sudden-bought this. It's hard to find anything like this, I've looked! I just wish the compartments were bigger. Big enough for a small paper med cup with pills to fit inside it - it doesn't even have to have this many compartments. Please make one like this and take my money!!!

Too small.
Too small for my needs.

Fantastic for surface-mount components! (Don't expect to use it for larger things.)
I've gone through probably a half-dozen different kinds of organizers looking for a good way to keep track of small circuitry components. This is hands down the best one I've used for surface-mount components.Sewing organizers and tackle boxes are better for larger parts, like things larger than your fingernail, but this is great for smaller stuff. The smallest parts I use are 0603, but I don't have trouble with anything falling out. The drawers also stay shut very well. There aren't many cons, but the labels aren't very easy to write on. I just use a label printer to print part names out in a small font. The drawers are small, but I think it's a good compromise with how many there are. They're about 15mm wide and seem to fit about a thousand 0805 resistors comfortably. They're just large enough for a 0.5mm-pitch QFP100 chip to lie flat in, although you should probably use the pricier anti-static version of this box for things that require ESD protection.Anyways, it's also small enough to put in a bag and carry around, which is very nice considering how many parts you can fit in it.

Extremely small compartments even for electronic components
The pictures on the website don't give you the correct dimension of the size of the compartments. I bought this box for electronic components as described in the picture, but I was so surprised when the box arrived and the compartments were really, really small. I ended up missing the return date (my bad) and I ended up buying another one with little drawers, much, much better to store my electronic components. I still gave a 4 stars because the material and the construction of the box seem good enough. It is true the dimensions of the item are described, but... Next time, I will really measure!
