Jumanji 30th Anniversary Edition: A Caldecott Award Winner Hardcover – Picture Book, October 4, 2011

This is a very handsome book to add to your child’s collection – or to your own personal collection like I did. The black-and-white drawings on every other page are really outstanding and very beautiful to look at. They complement the story quite well. This is a sturdy book that is attractively designed. Kids will like the exciting, well-written story, too!

This is not a book about the 1995 movie Jumanji. This book is what the movie was loosely based on. It's a nice little story for very young children. Be aware it is describing a simpler time. You'll have to treat it like when you're reading fairy tales to them.

My kids love it as much or more than I did at their age and have a fascination with story that has evolved, thanks to the film adaptations.

I *love* the story of jumanji.It's fundamental to who I am as a person. I purchased two books.Neither book arrived with the audio cd of the narration and I will be returning. No wonder why this price was too good tool be true ~ false advertisingEdit: i found the audio. the instructions are on the second page that says TO TOM S.Edit 2: if your pc has issues playing the audio file, right click on the file and open up properties. Rename the file to Jumanji.mp3 and it will work.This is an mp3 file and you have to label the file as such for your pc to read it.

If you only know Jumanji from the movies, you'll be very surprised by this wonderful, gentle children's book. The illustrations and typesetting are beautiful. This is suitable for reading with your young ones. I'd say they need to be old enough to understand simple board games, and of course they need to know (or be able to understand an explanation of) what a monsoon and similar things are.The bonus audio track of Robin Williams is great. This is Williams at his most relaxed, making this almost a bedtime story.One caution: this story is set in an era when people would hold formal cocktail parties, so it has an antique feel to it. Youngsters might not notice or care.

Jumanji 30th Anniversary Edition. Hardcover. Like New Condition from Amazon Warehouse. Great concept, and well-told story. Be wary of who the seller is if you value maintaining books in fine condition.When I took the book out of the plastic wrap, it looked to be in good (not "like new") condition with some ruffling on the edges of the dustcover. However, as I carefully opened it and looked through it, more imperfections came to light. While my child read it to me, I insisted on holding it to avoid further damage. After the lion appeared, I noticed a crease on the front dustcover that hadn't been there before. When the python slithered away, the Caldecott Medal sticker began to lift from the surface and proceeded to coil. By the time the rhinos had receded, there was a slight tear near the spine that grew larger every minute. I put the book out of the way, high on a shelf, but I dread what damage I will find in the morning.
