Q: How much weight will this support, meaning camera weight ?

The camera I mounted was very light, less than a pound, but the mount is very sturdy. I could see it holding a camera up to 5 lbs easily. It comes without any instructions, so there is no documentation I saw that would indicate an official weight limit.

Q: Does this work with the Ring security cameras?

It will work with any camera. Mount a piece of plywood to it that is painted with outdoor rated paint with size and color of your choice and mount your camera. It can also be used to mount bird houses, signage, security lights, outdoor tv, speakers or whatever. I used painted plywood to mount my outdoor ring camera to and put a Universal Sunshade, Rainshade Camera Cover Shield for Outdoor Cameras over the top of it that I also purchased from Amazon. You could also use cedar wood as the mounting surface on the face of the mount. Then you wouldn’t have to paint it. The mount is made of stainless steel and is solid. You will not find anything better than this camera pipe mount. So from here I leave it to you to decide what you need to do.
