Yep, this is the low cost balancer you're looking for.
This hardware works well and is surprisingly good quality for the price. Firstly, it's not a chrome-moly professional set that will withstand punishment from abuse, if you're looking for that, expect 8-10x cost. Second, it's cheaper than the HF version, better quality and as long as you level it out, a set of jackstands will serve the minimum requirements for support. Which, BTW, I was pleasantly surprised to discover it arrived with a convenient little bubble level. The good parts: The main balance bar arrived straight and true without undue surface roughness, the alignment cones measure identical to my calipers. I did some light sanding on the shaft for OCD purposes, but it really didn't need it. The bearings roll freely after removing packing grease from everything. My HD Springer wheels balanced well, tested up to 90mph without any detectable wobble, not on the streets of course :)The unlucky part: One of my bearing sets was damaged, pretty obviously in shipping from a side impact. Still gets 5 stars because MJ Moto Gear sent out a new set of replacement bearings right away and the new set was fine.

Great little tool here
Great little tool here. However, I received the product and right out of the box one of the bearings was bad. I lubed the crunchy bearing up hoping it would get better, it didn't. I loosened the nut on it, hoping it would at least spin better to balance my tires, and it worked OK at best with more lube - as the bolt was spinning the bearing. I contacted the seller and he sent a new bearing and a bonus pack of wheel weights. Everything works just fine now, and I'm happy with the customer service.

Works great.
I put each black stand on a five gallon bucket and balance my motorcycle tires with this. I buy my weights from jiminwc The Reusable Spoke Weight Store as they "ahem" are reusable and made in the USA... if you have one bike buy a kit. I have three bikes and I bought two multi weight kits along with a pack of 1 oz weights. If you are having trouble balancing a tire, where it's in between weights then try moving the left and right weights an even number of spokes away from where they are. I had one 1/2 oz and two 1/4 oz weights on my front tire and it was too much but take a small one off and it wasn't enough. I ended up being able to move each 1/4 oz weight three spokes out from the middle 1/2 oz weight and it balanced it perfectly!!

You get what you pay for
...and you're paying for a cheap set of bearings and cones. The shaft finish is pretty poor (very irregular and flaking chrome). I balanced the wheels of my Tuono with this set up on two tool cases. It worked fine, but I had to clean the bearings and shaft first (there was gunk and flaking finish on the shaft). If you're looking for greatness, keep looking. If you just need to balance some wheels decently, this is an okay solution, but don't expect the shaft to last years. Is it good enough for heavy street tires/wheels? Yep!Is it cheap? Yep!How long will it last if you take care of it? Probably a year or two depending on corrosion/humidity/patience.

It works but the quality is pretty poor
You get what you pay for. I was expecting to have to open up the bearings, clean out the grease, and lube with a light weight oil. Unfortunately, my bearings still have rough spots as they rotate even after doing those things. The wheel cones also don't fit the shaft the best, which means the wheel isn't perfectly centered on the shaft. With those things aside, I still was able to get my wheels balanced very well with enough patience. I'm still undecided if I would buy it again if I could go back in time.

Motorcycle Wheel Balancer
The wheel balancer works quite well. I just recently bought new tires for my motorcycle and the balancer worked great. My only complaint is with the steel rod that came with it. One end was finished perfectly but the other had a gouge in it. I had to make sure that when I placed it on the bearings that I avoided the gouge mark in the rod.

Very nice balancer for the price
Very nice balancer for the price. The cross member rod appears to be a "TGP" rod, meaning trued, ground and polished. Way better than the Harbor Freight model, which is a piece of junk. The bearings turn very freely once I brought them in from the cold. I believe this free standing version is better than the metal stand version because of the way the bearings mount to the extruded T shape. Very straight and accurate. To use these you can just set them on a couple of masonry blocks, or you can build a stand out of wood if you can make accurate enough cuts. (see my pic)

The cones were long and thin so they actually touched each other, preventing tightening completely on the wheel. I thought about grinding some off of the small end of one of the cones, but ended up balancing the wheel with it loose, so i'm sure it wasn't all that accurate. The " axle" that comes with it was slightly bend which also threw off the accuracy. The two bearing sets are mounted onto black plastic or nylon, not metal.
