yes the 27 inch imac will take this type of ram.it can take a total of 32 gigs in 4 slots(8 gigs each slot)if you choose to max it out but 16 gigs is plenty.the 21.5 inch imac is non user replaceable.

is this compatible with the latest "iMac with Retina 5K display"

I bought 16GB of RAM for my 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K that I purchased in Dec of 2014. It's working great! As others have said, install in slot 2 and 4. Basically, I didn't take out the original RAM from Apple and just inserted the ones I purchased. That's it. It was good to go. I upgraded from 8GB to 24GB.

Is this compatible with the Macbook Pro 2.6GHz i7 (Mid 2012)?

I think you have the 15-in model. I have the 13-in. Both mid 2012 are using ivy bridge circuitry means that memory kit can run just fine with your macbook. I still am running this kit for 15 months now with no issues.

Will this work in my mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro?

Contrary to the "yes" answer, it does not work with the mid 2010 MBP. Look for 1066 MHz for compatibility. I know because I tried this item with my MBP, and had to send them back.
