well worth $12. The hat is very well made. It helps if the hat fit loose is to have the chin strap (whatever you call it) on the back of your head and tighten it up by sliding the plastic piece on the chin strap until it tightens on the back of the head. The excess can be tuck under the hat if it gets in the way. That is how I wear it. It gets a good secure fit instead of having to keep the strap under your chin & it stays on better. It is 100% cotton which I like, it is hard to find bonnie hats that are 100% most of the time it is a blend.of poly and cotton This is very similar to the Vietnam Boonie hats that were 100% cotton. This has a inside pocket for keeping maps or for me my fishing license . The Vietnam bonnie's did not have this. Made me laugh to have the inside tag say" Made in Honduras from USA material" I guess the cotton came from the US and the hat was made in Honduras .,,, ;-) It is well made and I would buy again. I got olive drab , the picture from Amazon looks more like a Tan color but what I got is a military olive green This may help others to pick out their correct size. Mine turned out to be X large SMALL Size 6 3/4 - 6 7/8 21 1/8 " - 21 1/2 " MEDIUM Size 7 - 7 1/8 21 7/8 " - 22 1/4 " LARGE Size 7 1/4 - 7 3/8 22 5/8 " - 23 " X-LARGE Size 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 23 1/2 " - 23 7/8 Place measuring tape around your head about 1/8" above your ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Basically you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

Great sun hat. Like most Tru-Spec clothing it is well made & durable.

If you notice, from the product pics, the green colorway on this hat lacks the extra 1/2" strip of fabric under the webbing that runs around the crown to covers the transition into the brim that most TruSpec boonies have. Meaning this hat fits far more shallowly on one's head. Which, along with the relatively thin ripstop cotton used in it's construction and it's slightly wider brim, does help to make this version slightly better in hot weather and full sun than most of the Boonies I own. Including those made by Tru Spec. The fit still still isn't ideal however. It hovers almost 3/4 of an inch above where my ears start and must be worn tight to the top of my head to feel secure. Even fitted Boonies are usually better with a little bit of wiggle room. So I still do much prefer my fitted Multicam Black Nyco Boonie, except on those hottest and sunniest days. I'm not sure why this colorway seems differently constructed than the others. Maybe they did that thing where they make their green colorway a copy of the original Vietnam Boonie. Not sure. Either way, I mostly plan to keep this one for summer yardwork. Edit: I prefer this boonie to my others. The thin-ness of the fabric, the tightness of it to the top of the head, and the way it fits a little shallowly lets it breathe better than the others and deal with perspiration better. The wider brim and the way it responded to being waxed with Greenland Wax also made it better for wind and sun blocking. The one slight fit issue was caused by the inside back seam not matching the one outside. They're going in different directions but it manages to blance out on your head. Best I've found so far this summer. Would reccomend.

I've purchased this hat twice now. The first one was perfect, purchased about 18 months ago, the second one I just received (July 16 2025). For a while it was unavailable and I think they changed their manufacturer or outsourced it to a new Chinese factory. Bottom line the new version is not half as good as the previous version. The hat top is to low/shallow and it does not seem as nice of a material or feel as durable as the previous version. Also the brim seems way more flopsy and not as stiff as the previous version. Tru-Spec was my go to for this style of hat but I am now looking for a new source.

I ordered this hat in Khaki color because, as said in other reviews, it goes well with a lot of colors. It appears well made and feels like a good fit on my head. The strap on it with the leather adjuster works well to keep it on, even in windy conditions. It does wonders in cooling my head down and I can't imagine backpacking without it. It does have a map pocket in the top of it, just like most patrol caps. The tag on the inside says "Assembled in Honduras from USA materials" As mentioned by totallyfrozen, the stitching on the underside is a little sloppy, but it looks sturdy enough. Who would I recommend this boonie to? Anyone who is going to be exposed to the sun for a long period of time. This includes hunters, hikers, fishermen, campers, even gardeners. If you're going out in the sun, this boonie is a necessity.

I bought two of these boonies in tiger stripe, one in jungle, one in desert. The pattern on the jungle tiger hat is spot on, while the pattern on the desert tiger hat is missing one color, but still very good. I doubt most people would even notice. They are both good to excellent build quality, with a map pocket in the crown, and the brim is a little wider than most boonie hats I have. A feature which I like very much as it does a much better job of keeping the sun off your face and neck. They also came with cord locks on the cord that holds the hat on your head in the wind instead of the cheap little leather toggle that doesn't do much of anything. One drawback is the the length of that cord is a little short in my book. I gave five stars as there is no option for four and a half as jungle tiger is excellent, but the desert tiger is just slightly off. Great boonie hats of good quality though.

I'm testing 15+ similar hats, some with snaps some without. This one I tried in an olive green. I ordered a 7 3/4 for my big noggin and it's true to size. The fabric is a ripstop cotton (100% according to label), a bit thicker than some gridded ripstop, you can barely see the grids. I like the fabric, not too thin, not too stiff. The top is nicely floppy and crushes down nicely rather than standing up even higher than your head. The bad thing to me is the brim. I'm likely going to add a wire around the outer brim of any hat I get anyway (just push through around the outer edge through the overlapping brim wrap), but this one's still too floppy for me, it folds and flops everywhere. If you don't mind a super floppy brim, this is a nice hat still.

I like the fact that this hat actually fit the way it is supposed to. I wore it for 13 hours straight the first day I had and couldn’t tell I was wearing it. As it was forecast to rain, I sprayed it with water repellent and it didn’t affect the characteristics of the hat, it maintained its shape.

El mejor boonie, de todas las marcas, es éste modelo, es práctico, cómodo y ajustable. No es impermeable, pero te mantiene seco en una llovizna. y te cubre el sol en el verano intenso. Compraría de nuevo sin pensarlo, si lo llegara a perder, porque si no, no creo que compre uno en mucho tiempo.
