CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902 Exam Cram

My thoughts and suggestions
I purchased the 901/902 exam cram to help study for my A+ cert. I have over a year of experience in the IT field. This was more of a refresher course for me.The one thing that I do like about David is he goes straight into teaching. There are times I like playful writing and then there are times when I need the definitions. Ya know? David gives the definitions, and if you are interested in this field that will be enough to keep you reading.I did buy the Kindle version and suggest buying the physical book instead. You do not get the disc included with the Kindle version. I do think this should be included as a download link. When it comes to the book there is a lot of info in it. It did help me prepare for both exams. There were a few questions on both exams where even I was scratching my head for a minute. I'm not allowed to go in detail on those questions due to CompTIA regulations, but my point is look around the web for more test questions. Example: examcompassMy biggest tip to all of you taking these certifications is pay attention to the wording of the question, use common sense, and be prepared for questions that could be worded in better detail. Don't let a question scare you either. If you are not sure of something, skip it, and come back to it later. A good idea for any kind of test.I took both exams on the same day and passed both exams. I only suggest doing that if you are experienced. Otherwise, download the comptia 901/902 study objectives. Take the exams on different days. Everything that might be on the exam is in those objectives. This sums up my experience. Be sure to take your time, study, and get some rest before the exam. Don't go to bed at 5am when you got a test in two hours. I've been there. It's not worth it lol.

If you have the drive, time and dedication you can too.
Great book. The author breaks down the material very simple. If your a complete novice it will help you. I have 10+ years on repairing computers, first time going after a cert. I have my college degree. But needed to get this cert along with others to prove to other potential employers I know my stuff.I purchased this book on 5/18/16 and used the software to test myself to see where I needed to focus on. Then after the practice exam I scheduled the 220-901 exam in 2 weeks. 6-11-16 Week 1 study 2 chapters every evening and did the quizzes. At the end of week 1, i did the practice exam and saw an improvement in score. Repeat for 2nd week and score a little higher. Went in and passed 220-901 exam, minimum score is 675/900 I scored 800.Repeated the same process with 220-902 exam. 6-24-16 Minimum score to pass was 700/900 and my score was 757. Knocked this out in 1 month time. Keep in mind I don't have kids, wife, gf or other distractions to hold me back. Just saying what worked for me.

Concise, excellent organization
We started with professor messner videos, but felt overwhelmed by some of the video content. His videos follow the comptia guidelines. I thought I might be unhappy with this book because it ids laid out much differently and I wouldn't be able to exactly match it up to the videos I wanted to watch at the same time. But I found that the organization makes things much easier to learn, because it's more of a progression, and grouping related concepts together seems to be making it much easier to remember all the crazy numbers and whatnot. the downside is that content between 901 and 902 are intermingled so if you plan to do one test and then the other a week or two later as He suggests, you still have to study more in the book then you have to view in Professor Messner videos. Still I found this to be a fabulous resource, and I'm planning I won't need any additional resources to pass the test, accept free test questions online and in apps.

Great prep book!!
This book has been great prep for my upcoming CompTIA A+ exams. I deducted 1 star because it is not organized between exams 901 & 902... the study topics are all mixed together. The organization makes sense if you plan to take both exams at once, or need the info for real-life use, but not if you're going to take a break between exams. The online site seems to render the DVD useless. I'm enjoying the practice quizzes because they're scored similarly to the real exam (unknown points for each question). All the info is far superior to study info provided by my school (which uses uCertify). I read this book after watching the Prof Messer YouTube videos, to supplement my knowledge. I'll be using the "cram sheet" this week as I prep to finally take the 901 exam.

I believe you can increase your score on A+ with this book.
I used this along with the Comptia A+ Study guide. This however was the big key to getting a higher score. I took the FIRST test (901) without it, I did pass, but could have scored higher I believe. I bought this and read it carefully (902 part) and took the sample tests. I felt very confident afterwards. There is also a nice FOLD OUT 'crib notes' in the very front - this was integral to my study as it was very accurate as to the objectives covered. I suggest you read the book, first, then review that several times before you take the test.I must say that I nearly blew the test away - my score on the 902 part was MUCH higher than the 901. I strongly recommend this book if you are going to obtain your A+ as I have now.p.s. If you are a classic Star Trek fan, enjoy the reference on page 694...It's subtle but an AWESOME reference to a wonderful episode - Thank you Mr. Prowse for including that.

Great book to own, a tad on the boring side...
It's a good book, but a little wordy in some areas, not enough info in other areas. I'm about half way done and tbh, it's kinda boring. I kinda wished I skipped the book and just used Prof Messer and CertMaster, but it is a very good reference book to have if/when you get an IT job.The quick reference card in the front is invaluable and the website access and cd is an added bonus. The 10% off cert coupon did not work for me, so a heads up on that (which was one of the main reasons I bought the book). so I recommend the book for the most part but again, Messer's videos and CertMaster is probably all you need, unless you're new to computers. I worked in tech support for years before this book, so maybe that's why I find it kinda boring.

This book is not bad, however the way the chapters are ordered does mean that the material you need to know for the 901 exam is interspersed with the material for the 902 exam - not the end of the world because, obviously, you do need to pass both, but this threw me a little because I'd prefer to study for one then the other rather than both at once. There is also some stuff included which you just don't need for the exams - given how broad the A+ certification is already, I'm not sure I need to be trying to learn even more information just yet.The included DVD could be better - it seems to be missing content referred to in the book, plus when attempting the various questions I came across a few that were either unanswerable because of mistakes/bugs/glitches or worded so badly it was difficult to understand what was actually being asked (to be fair, this is only the case with a small minority of the questions). Also, like the book, the practice exam mixes up the 901 and 902 material. It does include some performance-based questions to practice with, however, which are very useful, although it's a shame there aren't a few more of them included.Overall, I'd say it's a fairly useful study resource best used in conjunction with another book or an online resource such as Professor Messer's excellent videos.

As the title implies, this book is crammed full of all the information you need to pass the CompTIA A+ 220-901/902 exams. I'm using it in conjunction with the 901/902 learning paths over on Pluralsight, as well as waiting patiently for the companion volume Practice Questions. It should be possible to pass with just this book. Each chapter covers certain CompTIA A+ objectives and has Cram Quizzes to test your knowledge. That accompanying DVD also has practice questions, video demos, etc.If you are planning on taking the exams (which I am - next week) then this is a worthwhile purchase.

TEST DOESN'T WORK
Pearson Practise Test IS NOT working ! Also SUPPORT DOES NOT give any answers. I figured out on my own that there is an old version of test on DVD which is included with the book so when you install it on your computer you can't sign in. Problem can be solved by downloading new version on your own from Pearson website BUT It's not launching after installation at all. Im using Windows 10 but I've also tried to launch it with compatibility with older OS. Final result after wasted time on it - TEST DOESN'T WORK !
