Powerhouse of a mic, and fits in your pocket
I had some doubts about how a little microphone like this could handle some loud jam sessions, but it surprised everyone. It's very easy to use including the Android app, and it sounds great. It handles the drummer randomly deciding to go hard on his rimshots like a champ while also picking up on some of the more subtle noises in the guitar FX. For this price, this thing is a champion. Anything else of this quality or higher is going to cost you a whole lot more.

Works well. Has a very simple recording app.
The mic functions well, but does not capture lower frequencies. I use it for recording Didgeridoo B1#, 63 Hertz playing (as measured on the T1 tuner app). So, I won't be able to use it for quality recordings. It has very short cables and I got a 6 foot lightning to mic.I very much like the simplicity of the Motiv app that it comes with. It has some simple EQ and decibel settings. I can trim recordings. A few other helpful things too. Ultra simple to just set the decibels I want after a few tests and then press the record button.

Get this mic!!
The media could not be loaded. I few weeks back I acquired this mic, I got the Shure MV7, which appeared very sturdy and high quality built, however the signal I was getting out of it was not strong enough, and at day 2 the Micro USB connector from the mic stopped working and I had to return it. ( dynamic mic)After that I decided to go with this MV88+ which is a stereo mic, condenser and highly portable, and I am significantly pleased with the sound quality, size and weight and portability in general. I have not used it with the iPhone still to record something but I did buy the lightening cable as well and tested it, works he same quality as in a desktop. Please get this mic if you are looking for:Ultra High Sound QualityPortabilityHigh Gain/Input due to phantom power.Great for Blogging, Podcasting and YouTube/Social Network Videos

Excellent value for the money
The Shure MV88+ worked wonders for my iPhone X. Initially, I tried to videotape an audition for my son without using the microphone. The sound quality was subpar to say the least. His mother brought over her Shure and Rode microphones that she uses for voiceovers. However those require a couple of adapters and one needs it's own power source. The Shure MV88+ was a much simpler fix. With both an app for video and one for audio, I was able to adjust the microphone settings to fit our space and acoustics. Playback through quality speakers is proof positive that the plug and play microphone works. The only issue is that the user guide is weak. I had to look at a couple YouTube videos and experiment to get the settings right. Otherwise, I would have given it a 5 rating. I've only had this for a week. But I can see many uses for it.

Perfect for On The Go Video Filming
We run an event company and I use this for our business twice a week and it's great. When you read the instructions it will tell you that you need to download the app. I use to do it that way, but found no difference in the sound quality if you just shoot through your phone's video feature. It comes with the cable that you need to plug it into your found and a mount, but if you want to attach it to your phone you will need to purchase a cell phone rig separately. It's lightweight enough that if you attach it to a gimbal it will still hold it.You can adjust the sound through the app, but I've never needed to. Red light indicator tells you when the sound balances are off or if you're too close to the sound source.Great sound capture - cuts out the background noise behind you. Though it's important to note that the sound capture is a "cone" not a "beam", so it will still pick up sounds next to you, just not behind you.If you were at a concert, this would get a lot of crowd noise around you - but if you're close to a stage or filming something without a lot of background noise, this will absolutely enhance the capture of the sound.

Be Aware
I chose this mic specifically for shooting video on an iPad. There are no other options out there for a high quality, landscape stereo oriented microphone for iPads or iPhone. What they don’t tell you in the description is that this mic must be used with Shure’s video app and that app does not run alongside Apple’s native camera app. That means you can only use Shure’s app camera and it’s a clunker. No zoom. No slo-mo. You can tap two choices: wide and ultra wide. That’s it. With a bit of a delay before your choice registers. Worse than that, the app does not forward your video to the camera roll. It stays in the Shure app “gallery”. That means it is not accessible to iMovie. So editing is out. The mic itself might be good, but this type of interface is clunky and useless. You must disconnect the mic or plug in headphones directly to it if you want to hear the audio.I tried out the audio only app and I could not find any setting that was not mono. I just didn’t understand what exactly they were trying to do here. It seemed designed by people who didn’t know much at all about producing video with an iPhone or iPad. I wish there was someone out there that would produce a mic for an iPhone or iPad that was stereo, had an effective windscreen, and would not bring about all the limitations that come with this Shure mic. Part of the problem is Apple, who refuse to acknowledge that their built in mics have major limitations outside where there is wind. What is needed is an OS change that allows for an external mic to just work without an app and that will give excellent results. No such thing exists and this Shure mic is no exception.
