It seems to have a much stronger representation of earlier periods of history, the bronze age through World War II---so if you are hoping for more modern military history, seek another book. It is not a comprehensive history (it selects certain battles and time periods), but they are well selected across a large period of history and well worth the price of the text (which was also pleasantly discounted on desertcart).
