Great tool, eye opening even!
Never used one before recently. Takes a lot of getting used to if you aren't already used to controlling your pressure, but has honestly taught me more than I thought by just playing around with it. Every stroke: it's length, downward pressure, angle, and speed all factor into your line quality and it's been a fun experiment. The ink flows so well and I never had to worry about it. I was expecting a harder shaft to the pen, but after priming it, I understood why, and even applaud how it's made me change my grip on my tools. The visual design won't win any awards, but it does its job ~perfectly~ and that's all we can really ask for right? Shockingly light to hold and doesn't slide in the fingers as much as I expected.I'm going to buy more in varying sizes. I didn't think I would love it this much!

A valuable statement for sure 🧡
These kind of products show exactly why the USA isn’t the only helpful supplier we need!Japan being very big in on the art industry makes very high quality products for what seems to be for so cheap. Legit I buy all my traditional art supply’s from suppliers like this and they are on top no complaints or competition!

I changed my mind - after several years of use, I love it.
Below is my original review. Initially I didn't like it because it was tricky to get used to. I don't use it often, because I have so many pens, but I do find that this is the pen I reach for for a lot of purposes. The reason is that it is black. I don't mean blackish, blue black or brown black. I mean black hole black. It is the crispest black I've seen anywhere. Once I got used to having to squeeze the barrel, I found that the length of the brush gave me an excellent detail tip. I guess the criticisms I had at the beginning are still worth stating, because it was a frustrating pen to start using; but now that I've been using it for a long time, I realize that I keep on going back to it.Original review:I guess I got spoiled by the last brush pen I bought, the Kuretake: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001C0CT2O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00 . I love, it, and the only down side was that it wasn't waterproof ink. This one is. Unfortunately, this one is harder to use, and the brush won't stay put. It keeps squishing into the pen. It was hard to get the ink flowing, and it came with no instructions in English. The other was in Japanese, too, but didn't need any instructions. This one does. This is much messier and harder to use. The ink doesn't flow as smoothly, and most importantly the brush quality isn't nearly as good. The brush splays out instead of moving in a solid stroke. I will say this much, though. The ink all over my fingers is indeed waterproof.

Love this brush pen!
The media could not be loaded. Don't listen to bad reviews. They didn't Remove THE RED BAND! LOL hahahaha!!!!This is a great pen! I have worked with brush pens for a very long time, I Have no issue with leaks, great price and very versatile. The weight is perfect. It's a good size and fits my medium sized hands. Copied a few Hokusai manga images, the pen works fantastic for this media and style. If you are getting leaks you are squeezing the pen too hard. Squeeze a little as the ink moves down into the brush you can see it, then squeeze a little more. The brush will reload with very little squeezing.

Unclear instructions! See other reviews for operating tips!
The instructions for use are in Japanese and the pictograms are not very clear. I had to read a couple of reviews to get an inkling (har har) as to how to get the ink to flow. I give the pen itself 5 stars, but only 3 because of the unclear operating instructions. Now that I have finally got the ink to flow I find it is an excellent pen.
