After spending years reading many books, dabbling in various systems of astrology, and studying various occult sciences, I finally came across Freedom Coles teachings and was able to garner some genuine wisdom.I studied the many facets of Western astrology, struggling to put the pieces together in a way that was coherent and emanated a feeling of transcendental truth.This book, in collaboration with Mr. Cole’s Science of Light course, was able to offer me that feeling of coherence and truth. Together they changed the way I see the world.The book itself is written in a somewhat oratory style, in keeping with Vedic tradition. It isn’t for someone who is looking for a simple explanation of astrology. It is intended to convey a deep and subtle understanding by building on primary principles and fundemental elements.The book is littered with tidbits of knowledge, and by simply reading the table of contents you will miss the gems and contextual information that are imparted by reading the whole book in its progression. As with any scholastic endevor, the text book is best served in its function by utilizing the guidance of a teacher. This is particularly true with knowledge of a mystical or archetypal nature, and the Science Of Light course serves this purpose beautifully.By purchasing this book and joining Mr. Coles course, I was struck with the feeling of being trained and immersed in an occult tradition, and the community of like minded and interesting people I have met through his courses has genuinely enriched my life.For the aspiring spiritual student, or someone wanting to learn mystical arts at a high level, this book and the corresponding course offers something you simply cannot find anywhere else.

Namaste,When I first began my journey into Vedic Astrology, I spent alot of money buying beginners books written by western authors. Being a South African Indian, and growing up in a western environment, I found it difficult to relate to the books written by Indian authors. I was very dissappointed when I found that the western authors, though clearly giving out the Vedic Astrology principles, often tinted this with their own teachings and own worldview about they *think* vedic astrology should be. I searched far and wide for a beginner book that I could relate to on a spiritual level, and a level that contained knowledge passed down in a bona fide disciplic succession.When I got my hands on Science of Light about a month ago, I felt that my prayers had been answered!!! My eyes were immediatly drawn to the mantras and the diagrams in the book. I was hooked and fascinated!!!Everytime I open this book to read, I am inspired to learn more.The book is written to take you through the beginner process. The style is easy to follow and principles are explained in a step by step manner. Everything that is explained is linked to a spiritual level, but its not "in your face" spirituality. It is gentle and takes into account the western audience.The book is an important stepping stone if you want to further your studies.I recommend this book to everyone. For those new to Vedic Astrology, it will give you the tools needed to work with Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS), the "bible" of Vedic Astrology. Even if you just want to learn as a hobby, this book will keep you well informed. Get this book, you will not be dissappointed!

This is the best book on any Astrology I have ever read. However, I would start to read Braha’s books first to get a contemporary American understanding of Joytish. This book takes the works of Braha to the next level. There was so much great information it took me 3 months of reading and taking notes to get through this masterpiece. Well done sir.

My wife and I have been learning Astrology for over 10 years initially under Sethu Sastri Mama and later on our own and I am now Freedom's student in his level 1 course and I am amazed that several people have given him less than 5 star ratings on this site. I am awed by his effortless mixing and matching of Astrology with Vedanta which is the way it should be as it is a Vedanga. I cannot forget the 5 minute visual imagery evoked by him on the terms Shreem and Kreem. His explanations on Rashis and Rashi Drishtis and Argala and Divisional charts even in this so called beginner level course is supreme. Between the videos and the weekly online meetings I am sure most people can gain a grip on this vast oceanic subject. His Panchanga and Arudha Pada sessions are classy and demonstrate the Sanjay Rath lineage that I hope I will proudly be a part of some day. I cannot wait to start his level 2 course next year which to me right now looks vastly more complex. Om Namo Bhagavatey Vaasudevaya.

Freedom Cole's Science of Light Introduction is simply a treasure. I purchased the First Edition of this book and read it several years ago it initially was released.While I learnt a lot from reading it, this book became more alive when I studied with Freedom in his Level 1 course. During the year long course, each concept covered in this book is explained in detail with examples. Often times Freedom will refer to the source of the text and explain it in detail. While studying with Freedom, knowledge contained in the book unveiled itself and my understanding of Jyotish increased many folds. Freedom Cole is not only a good author, he is also a very gifted astrologer and a very good teacher.
