works well enough
I bought this a while back because I was told that the pan head that came with the tripod would be hard to control. It works, and it's definitely easier to control than that pan head. The only thing I don't like about it is the size of the release plate, it's too small and I'm always afraid the screw will break or something if I have my heavier lenses attached to the camera.

My 2nd one
Dolica is good stuff at a decent price. With a tripod and a monopod for my DSLR, only the tripod was a Dolica and came with this. Had to get the head seperately for the monopod - installation was straightforward and easy enough. Now I'm set to use whichever support I need.

Single Lever Ball Head
Item as described, delivered on time. Had to buy an adapter to put it on my monopod. It does not tell you that it is 3/8" opening. My camera is 1/4". Once I bought the adapter it worked fine.

Awesome Ball Head!
I have the Dolica B100 tripod and a Dolica mono pod, I bought this extra Ball Head to use on my Mono Pod so my quick release attachments on my camcorder and my digital camera are interchangeable. No with this one on my mono pod I can grab either camera quickly and take pictures or videos with me in them ( using the tripod) or just quickly taking shots that needs a little bracing.

well made
This item is great. Very well made and it will attach and detach from the camera with ease. Not very big which is fine for my SL-1 Rebel DSLR camera. For full size DSLRs you may not feel the same.If you camera is actually on the small size it may be a bit big! Also you may need to purchase Tripod reducer Bushing to make it work with mono-pod or tri-pods.

Do not use anything over 3 lbs.
The tripod head is the weakest link. I put 4.25 lbs on it (Nikon D700 and 24-70 2.8 G) and the plate snapped right off. (see photo). The mount plate and the head are only connected by about 1/16th" soft aluminium. It works perfectly well with a smaller setup, like a m4/3 camera and 75mm lens (2.75 lbs.)

It is made with bad quality.
I had it for three months and suddenly the knob handle got detached (still the screw is attached). I lost the knob and replacement is about $25. It is made with bad quality.

Broke after 5 months of light use
I bought a Dolica tripod and this is the ball head that came with it. It no longer releases after 5 months of limited use. I'm looking for something to replace it.
