Duel at Shattered Rock #3 (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) Paperback – March 3, 2011

Great buy for the at-home library!

The Clone Wars novels are perfect reading level for early teen; my Star-Wars-loving 9-year-old daughter is addicted. They aren't canon, which annoys her since she has to keep the knowledge she gets here of the Star Wars Universe separate from the officially-sanctioned-by-Disney trivia she's gathered up, but she loves the books and has read the first 3 or 4 in the set in about a month. I would regularly walk down the hall after midnight to find her light on and her reading these. She even read the first book twice. She loves that they include her favorite characters (and some new ones as well) from the canonical Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series.You will want to start with the first book in the series and purchase them in order. Duel at Shattered Rock is book 3.

I bought this as a present for my nephews. I know that they love anything Star Wars, but I also would like to encourage them to read. What better way, than to give them books on subjects that they like and let their imaginations go wild.

My son read the first two books for his AR reading goals at school. He begged me for #3 & 4, which I found via Amazon and ordered. The books arrived pretty quickly and he was able to finish reading them and boy is he obsessed! I wish there were more. Looking for another series for him for the summer. I haven't read the book, but my 8 year old son has, and he loves them. This rating is based on his feedback, and it applies to all of the Star Wars books by Ryder Windham. He has read all of the Clone Wars series and the Life of... series. I wish there were more by Windham.

My 10 year old son loves these books and looks forward to reading them. Waits by the mail for the next book to arrive.

We have only begun to read the book but our biggest bummer so far is that 3 pages in, the top 2/3 of the page looks like it just wasn't printed. Its almost like someone photocopied the book together and covered up the top of the page and a huge paragraph is missing. It doesn't appear to be in more than that spot and we can definitely surmised what is happening in the story without that paragraph however I would definitely not have classified this book as "used" if I were the seller. More like "printing malfunction".

My son loves these.

Not a bad story for a young reader book,again you may want to get the other books in this series,so you will understand the characters better,than if you read as a standalone.

Nachdem sie einen Krieg mit den Chiss nur knapp abgewandt haben erhalten die Jungs des Breakout Squads bereits einen neuen Auftrag. Zusammen mit Commander Nuru sollen sie sich als Leibwache eines Abgesandten des erst kürzlich von ihnen befreiten Planeten Kynachi machen. Doch die Sith haben ihre eigenen Pläne mit dem Abgesandten und so hat Count Dooku bei der Death Watch deren besten Sniper für einen Anschlag angefordert. Während dieser, Hudu Shiv, nun nach Vaced aufbricht hat Cad Bane alles für eine Übernahme der Basis Drixo the Hutts auf Bilbringi vorbereitet, wo Overseer Umbrag eine Falle vorbereiten soll. Unterdessen hat Dooku seinen einstigen Freund Meister Ambase eingeredet dass sich einige Jedi Padawane unter dem Einfluss der Sith gegen ihre Meister erheben könnten und natürlich denkt Ambase da sofort an seinen eigenen Schüler Nuru, der als einer der wenigen noch davon überzeugt ist dass Ambase überhaupt am Leben ist...Wie schon in den beiden Secret Missions Bänden zuvor treibt Ryder Windham die Rahmenhandlung auch diesmal nur zu Beginn und Ende DUEL AT SHATTERED ROCKS voran, auch wenn der Anschlag auf den Gesandten Langu Sommilor eine sinnvollere Verbindung des eigentlichen Plots des Bandes zu BREAKOUT SQUAD vorgaukeln soll. Der Anschlag soll allerdings nur dazu dienen Nuru und die Klone beschäftigt zu halten, bis wirklich etwas passiert das die Haupthandlung voranbringt.Secret Missions 3 enthüllt nicht mehr wirklich viel. Nurus Chiss-Namen kennt man bereits, dass Dooku den einen oder anderen Agenten in das Squad eingeschleust hat ist auch absehbar, nur dass es Ryder Windham selten bei einem einzelnen Saboteur belässt kommt dann doch überraschend. Die Pläne Darth Sidious mit Nuru unterstreicht außederm noch dessen Beziehung zu Count Dooku, der vor 11 Jahren mit Ring-Sol Ambase die Rettungskapsel gefunden hat in der das machtsensitive Baby gefunden wurde. Während Nuru immer misstrauischer wird ob nicht ein Verräter in seinem Umfeld existieren könnte erlebt auch Ambase eine Glaubenskrise, die schon in der Überlegung der Klone Count Dooku könnte Anhänger im Jedi Tempel haben einen Vorgänger besitzt.Fazit:Ein paar Seiten zur Haupthandlung und viel Füllmaterial.

This book starts out a bit slow but the fight between Nuru Kungurama and the Mandalorian made up for it. The problem I have with this book is Count Dooku seems to have a lot invested in this which I hope the series need to live up to.
