Great, effective product.
Been using Nordic Naturals vegan D3 for years. Great product for those who prefer vegan D3 or who (like me) find they have a serious allergy to the base ingredient used to produce all D3 products sold in drug stores. Blood test preformed on me by my doctors have proven that, for me, this product is equally effective in raising blood D3 levels as other D3 products. Highly recommended.

derm dr recommended
My dermatologist recommend I consider a little extra vitamin D as I live on the Oregon coast and we simply don't get much for sun. Also, I'm older... (53) and she believes it's important as we age and we are more willing to use higher SPF creams. So, I am not checking with a blood test to see if this is actually effective...I find this version to be tolerable. It's not nasty... it's actually pretty tasteless oil. Easy to take in one dose. Quick and easy, over and done. I also got some more citrusy smelling tiny tablets that you allow to melt on your tongue... While I like the citrusy smell, they actually don't taste like much and I find myself just doing the drops because it's easier. But that is a personal choice. Just my opinion.

Vitamin D level in blood increased with this liquid vitamin
My vitamin D blood level was 38 ng/ml. Even though this is in the normal range I wanted to raise it. I took a multivitamin pill with D3 and tested my blood after 3 months and there was no change. I decided to try this liquid vitamin D3 that could, hopefully, be absorbed better in the mouth. After 3 months of taking this liquid vitamin D3 as directed, I am happy to report that my latest blood test for vitamin D3 has increased to 47 ng/ml. This is not a huge increase but it is proof that the liquid vitamin, for me, is better absorbed.

Great, light flavor
The apple flavor is very light, but pleasant. Mixes well with other flavors & washes off your tongue quickly.

Phenomenal
I live in the Northern U.S. and work indoors. Since humans' major source of Vitamin D is from sunlight, it left me deficient. As an ethical consumer, I read that most vitamin D3 comes from lanolin which comes from sheep. No need to hurt a sheep. I knew there must be a vegan source and was thrilled to find Nordic Naturals.Note that this is vitamin D3. D3 is highly preferable to D2. If you read absorption studies in the medical journals, you'll see that D2 can give doctors false positives on lab tests. D2 is absorbed quicker into the body but its effects do not last as long. So when you return for your 2-week check up to have your vitamin D levels checked again, the blood test will show that your levels are fine. And at that point in time, they will be. So your doctor will discontinue your D2. However, a week later your levels will drop down to what they were before and you'll wonder what's wrong. You'll go back to the doctor and repeat the cycle. D3 takes a few more days to be absorbed but it's effects don't spike up then drop down like D2. You get an accurate read on lab tests. (Show this article to your doctor: [...])Also note that D2 comes from irradiated yeast. Since the 1930's, most milk in the United States has been supplemented with D2 to prevent rickets in children. It's a cheap form of the vitamin. It does the job, but it must be taken regularly and who wants to ingest a radiated substance on a regular basis?Lastly, you should know how vitamin D is stored. Your body stores the excess in your fat and releases it when you need it. So when you are out in the sunshine all summer long, your body is soaking up the vitamin D, using what it needs and storing the rest. When dark winter days come around, your body will use the vitamin D it had stored up. In our society, however, we put on sunscreen which blocks vitamin D absorption, we have the windows up (vitamin D can't get through glass), and we're indoors most of the time. Accordingly, most people need to supplement. The best supplement around is a vegan source of D3.
