Fun wig. Bought for a party and got a lot of laughs

I must be forthright and honest about this set, it was a tad small for me because after a disfiguring accident 25 years ago, I have an unusually large head but for the average person this costume set would probably fit perfectly. I am in introvert and rarely leave home. When I take my wife to the store, I stay inside my van and avoid making eye contact with other people walking by. This beard and wig set has changed my life! I put it on before pulling out of the driveway and keep it on till we get home. At first my wife was not all that happy about the wig and beard but after she saw how wearing it changed my life she puts up with it. Now when I pull up to a stoplight people beside me don't look at me with contempt like they used to, I can see the fear in their eyes as I glare down at them before finally putting them at ease by smiling with my Billy Bob teeth (a product that should be considered if you buy the wig and beard set). When I used to go down the aisle in the big box store in my wheelchair people would rudely stand in my way but now their eyes bug out and they jump back like they think I have Ebola or something. The only bad thing about this set is that from my back people can tell it is not my natural hair. You need a coarse hairbrush to blend in the beard with the wig and make it look natural. Yes, I cannot think of any product I have ever purchased that, for the money, has made me as happy as the caveman beard and wig set. I just wish I had found this beard and wig 20 years ago!

Let me start out the gate with I'm a big dude. I'm 6'6 and 240lb, so I recognize I have a larger head than most...I bought this for a "Cast Away" costume as Chuck Nolan and it served its purpose. I had to trim it down a bit as this thing is pretty thick.The wig itself fit my head, but the beard piece was pretty tight, and did not have an adjustable strap. I had to reposition it on my head several times because it was causing pain, and the elastic was at full length. A bit longer and it would have been perfect (or a smaller head).

I bought this Caveman wig for a production I was in at the regional off-broadway theatre near me. The budget was tight due to budget cuts - the theatre is privately owned, but we usually receive a grant from the town, which we did not receive this past year ...so we had to supply some of our own costumes. Anyway, the play was a period piece set 90,000 years ago when neanderthals roamed the earth. Getting the costumes spot on was super important since it was a silent musical and we relied heavily on costume and set design to help tell the story. I played the role of 'Erg', the protagonist of the story. He was extremely misunderstood, as he was the only neanderthal who refused to eat meat as a way of minimizing the amount of deaths he was responsible for. I loosely based my character on the late, great Mary Shelley who was not only a famous philosopher, romantic poet and the inspiration for many science fiction works throughout history, but was also a vegetarian and strong advocate of animal rights. I tried to channel as much of her strong will as I could through Erg.This wig was a big reason I was able to make Erg believable and transform fully and meaningfully into him. The rubber headband in the wig maintained its elasticity and the synthetic hair was easy to work with in - shout out to my amazing hair and makeup team - Lisa and Greg, you know I am nothing without you guys! All in all, definitely a good wig for the price!

I was customizing a Teen Wolf mask and needed more hair. I used the beard then cut pieces from the top off and glued them to the wolf face. Worked great, hair can be combed also.

What a deal! These wigs and beards are full, thick-haired products that fit and looked great. I calmed the hair a little with a touch of olive oil and a brush. I liked how the gap between the mustache and beard wasn't well-defined which allowed me to trim the gap to fit my kids' faces. I was very happy about that and how well-made and sturdy they felt. My kids loved wearing them, and had no complaints. The wigs and beards stayed in place even when they ran around. Best of all, they were affordable, which was a huge bonus since I purchased a couple.

The hair material has that plastic-y feel that is typical for costume wigs in this price range. It's packed flat so the hair and beard -- 2 separate pieces -- do require some rearranging, but once they were fluffed up, both held their shape well. One reviewer mentioned trimming the beard, which may be necessary around the mouth area because the hair on the upper lip part is pretty long (except for a small part that is already trimmed). I could even imagine having to eat what the beard on, unless perhaps, you are going for that messy food-dribbled look.The beard has two elastic bands that join together before they connect to the beard. The band goes over the ears, and in the back of your head, you can have one strap lower than the other, and this does help keep the beard in place. I have a big head, and found the straps a little tight around my ears until I moved the straps higher on my head in the back. If you arrange the mouth area just right, you can make your lips visible, which adds to the realism.The same wig that I used also worked well for my wife and kids, so I'd have to say this would make a great addition to anyone's artificial wig/beard collection.
