Great kettle
It's a kettle, which is quite sturdy. It replaced a plastic one and the difference is quite noticeable. Not sure why - this one feels chunky, heavier. It's noisier but for some reason it just feels good to use. It is quite noisy compare to other kettles, but does boil quite quickly compared to my old one. The lid feels solid, pressing the button to flip up the semi circle opening, which is big enough. You can lift it further for a full 90 degree opening if needed. Looks smart in the kitchen as well, and hold a good amount of water.

Good overall if a little heavy.
Heavier than my previous Bosch kettle but has a quality feel and look. The display showing the water level during filling the kettle is not as clear to see as my previous kettle.Water pours out without any spills and overall is a good kettle.

A good looking kettle, not without niggles.
This is a good looking and well made kettle that pours well. It has a metal screening mesh in its built-in filter, which in my opinion is better than having the flimsier plastic types that are sometimes shipped.as the title to my review suggests, it is not without niggles. The key niggle for me is the lid opening mechanism. It opens to c. 45degrees, and to open it more fully (to c.90 degrees) you need to do so manually, which feels less than optimum when dealing with hot steam and looking to refill from a filter or tap. My kettle also has a strange rattling sound part way through the boiling process; this may go away with use, as it literally kicks in at the same point and then disappears after c.10 seconds, but currently I find find it a tad disconcerting.A third niggle was the pronounced metallic/oily scent that emanated from the kettle for the first few boilings, even after cleaning it as directed by Bosch. It did not affect the taste of the tea - or at least, not noticeably - but it did affect my sense of pleasure in using it for the first few days. The scent has fully gone with use, and apart from the lid opening niggle I am now enjoying the kettle. The build quality appears to be very good, and so long as the lid mechanism holds up then I can see this product being a robust one. (Sprung lids appear to be a key point of weakness in general electronic kettle design when they are used).A last thing to note is that the kettle is averagely loud in my experience, boils at the expected rate, does not sustain a rolling boil for very long, and while the fill display panel on the side of the kettle does the job, it is not all that easy to read the fill level as you fill as it is not illuminated.

Quick to boil, great to pour, reasonably quiet and solidly built
I very recently purchased a similarly styled Philips kettle that I felt, after a few tests, was unreasonably slow to boil and a little noisy so exchanged it for this model at just a few pounds more. I'm pleased I did. This Bosch not only looks a little more purposeful with its less curvy profile but with its 3000w power it boils a 1.7L max load a full two and a half minutes quicker than the Philips and was noticeably quieter and quicker to cut-off when reaching a boil too. It will boil 0.5L (e.g. two normal mugs) from cold to cut-off in an average 1 minute 25 seconds which I can easily tolerate.Other points of note:As other reviews have mentioned the lid pops up to almost exactly 60 degrees (by design I believe) but can be easily pulled open to its full 90 degrees even when the kettle is hot. I didn't find it a problem filling with the lid popped at 60 and didn't need to tilt it much past vertical but whether this affects you will probably depend on your taps. The pour is amazingly smooth and drip free however much water is in the kettle. The charging base feels a little lightweight but the rubber feet grip well on smooth surfaces so the base doesn't move around when placing the kettle on it.The flex is 70cm from edge of base to the bottom of the moulded plug and, whilst initially quite stiff from being wrapped around the base whilst packaged, it is already losing its kinks. As with most kettles with a fill guage behind the handle it's less convenient to see than a side mounted fill guage (when filling) but, when it's on the base, it's fairly easy to spot whether there's enough water in the kettle for a re-boil without the need to pick it up. Realistically I barely use the fill guage anyway so this makes little difference to me and having it "hidden" behind the handle makes for a visually sleeker look than on display on the side of the kettle. This kettle is available in a "plus" version that does have a side mounted fill guage for a few extra pounds but I didn't think the extra was worth it.I followed the setup instructions by boiling with a tbsp of vinegar and then boiling clean and fully rinsing afterwards but there was still initially a feint metallic tange of "new electronics". This went away after a few further boils.Amazon exchange process was quick and easy.

Nearly very good!
Almost an excellent product. High quality standard of finish, but 3 things prevent a higher grading:- very noisy when boiling. Cannot hear radio in kitchen. Takes a long time to auto switch off- minimum fill level is high compared to other kettles I’ve owned. As a single person this means I potentially waste unused water- most notably, spout is poorly designed. You initially only get a trickle and have to deliberately tilt the kettle considerably further to fill your cup. This makes me very wary of splashing boiling water over myselfI’ve had 4 Bosch products before and always been very impressed. Disappointed with this one.
