Does it's job, but still one more thing to put on and take off in kayak process
Very effective at its job. I've got a long 16ft sea kayak on kayak J-bars. Lasso's go easily on both ends with a decent amount of slack in the middle still. I just wrap it around the bars 2-3 times it is a tight fit at the combination lock connector in the middle. Easy to set the combination at start and works like a charm.I've only used this on one trip so far. The lock works as expected, but in the grand scheme I really wish I didn't have one more thing to take off and put on the kayak. Putting it on the roof, and securing it with 2 tie downs already takes a good amount of time. The lasso is an extra step I don't see myself using often. For this trip I was particularly worried, because I needed to park the car+kayak in a busy lot for several hours. If I'm just stopping briefly I wouldn't care so much.

Reasonably nice, but a little too long.
These are nice and provide some peace of mind when parking with expensive kayaks in a hotel parking lot overnight. They are a little too long for both a 12 foot (28 inch wide) recreational kayak and for a 14-foot (24 inch wide) transitional kayak. I had to wrap the cable around the rack a few times to make these tight. As a universal product, I guess you kind of have to expect this, and too long is better than too short, but I wish these had a better method for adjusting the length to make them secure.

There has been no weathering to the covered cable and the locking mechanism works as good as the day I bought it
A must for any kayaker. I have three of these locks for each of my boats, and after 3 years of use, have never had any issues with any of them. There has been no weathering to the covered cable and the locking mechanism works as good as the day I bought it. Changing the lock combination is simple and the four digit setting provides good security. The cable and lock is real thick and would have to take a big set of bolt cutters to cut through. Not only does it keep my boats safe from theft, but that additional attachment to the car while cruising down the Interstate of 70 MPH provides peace of mind as well. Speaking of cars, the rubberized sheath on both the lock and the cable a great job protecting the roof of my car from any banging. My boats are all 14.5 feet, but I have plenty of slack in the cable to secure my boats to large trees, etc.., This is a great product that will provide any kayaker good piece of mind when it comes to securing your boat.

Pricey is the Price of Keeping Your Yak
Can be a bit cumbersome getting the lock properly taut when locked to certain things like large trees that you can't loop around a second time -- my brother was kind enough to point out I didn't have it looped around my vehicle crossbars enough times as he pulled one end directly off the kayak, but as this product is practically universal I can learn to work around these minor obstacles. Great theft deterrent at the least. Keeping my L.L. Bean 14.5' tandem Manatee Yak secure.

Works great with some additional parts.
I have 2 Wilderness Systems Pungo 120's which are close to $800 each so a $100 for (2) lassos is not too bad for some insurance. There is 6 foot 8 inch of cable from the point that the lasso connect for each end. This will work to secure your kayak on the roof rack. You will have to wind the 13 feet and 4 inches around your car rack to keep someone from slipping the lassos off of the ends and stealing your kayak. When you need to secure the kayak around a tree or post you will need an additional 15 foot cable lock to keep the lassos taunt to keep them from being slipped off. A 15 foot cable is an additional $18. We like to frequent rivers and we have to leave the kayaks unguarded while we shuttle vehicles to the take out point. I have measured the loops and they are 44 inches round if that helps with the sizing.

One size doesn't necessarily fit all
This product, although well-made, does not work with my kayak (Bass Pro Ascend D10). No matter how tightly the locking cable is pulled, I am still able to slip one of the "lasso" loops off the end of the kayak after the product is locked. This may well have to do with the width of the kayak which prevents the loops from being pulled very far from the ends of the kayak. This product may work well with other brands or styles of kayak, but unfortunately it doesn't work with mine.

The perfect solution for securing my kayak
I'm always a bit concerned when I take my kayak places that someone may decide to snatch it off my vehicle when I'm in a restaurant having dinner or asleep in my campsite. I spent $1,000 for my kayak and this was cheap peace of mind as far as I'm concerned. Sure, if someone wants my kayak bad enough I'm sure they can get through the cable. But as a first line of defense, it will at least slow them down or they will pick an unsecured kayak instead of mine.It fits easily and perfectly over the ends of the kayak and attaches in the middle with a combo lock you can set with your own number. For the minimal cost, I think it is a no-brainer to use it. It's super easy and fast to put on and it adds some extra security. I even use it in my own back yard (as I live on a lake and my gates are not locked). I'm going to buy another one for my husband's kayak.

Works great!
I'm not even sure HOW one would lock a kayak on top of a roof rack without some kind of lasso lock like this. At first I couldn't really understand it (when looking online) but read the reviews and sure enough it really DOES work and work easily and well. The lock comes with a handy carry case, and it's also nice that the combo lock is built in (half on each piece of the lasso) so no need to keep track of a padlock. Plenty of length to use on my 14.5 foot kayak, with plenty of length to spare for a longer kayak. Heavy duty, solid, no complains, glad I got it! Seems a little longer than nessecary
The lock is easy to set, customize and use.The cables seem a little long, which makes them more useful I guess, but hard to tighten on smaller kayaks. Also it should be noted that if bringing into other countries, Canada in my case, there are large duties fees.

Not honest presentation
They presented it as two locks on first photo, but there is only one. Of course they put on the description 1 item, but it is a no honest trick to get people to buy to put 2 locks on the presentation photo.
