Excellent mid range birding bins
I decided to upgrade from my Olympus 8-16 x 40 binoculars which I found to be a very good intro pair into a birdwatching hobby (price when purchased around £80). I was looking for better light gathering optics basically. The Zeiss optics are definitely a cut above and present a vivid image. I have yet to use them in very poor light. I opted for x10 magnification as that’s what I tended to use with the Olympus zoom function anyway. The Zeiss have a nice feel about them in the hands, a good touch to the focus ring and are lighter than my previous pair. As a mid range pair at just over £400, I think they are good value. The binoculars are made in China, not Germany, but I have no problem with that at all and my initial view is that the build quality and optical performance is exactly what I hoped I would get from the Zeiss brand. I haven’t noticed any colour fringing when using them so far and the image has been faithful and sharp. To my eye the field of view is more than adequate. The neck strap is very comfortable and the rubber lens caps fit well and are easily attached to the carrying straps. My only quibble is that the carrying case - sturdy enough with a zip running round three sides- looks like it should be mounted on a belt. I would have preferred a more conventional bag with a neck strap. The quibble is a minor one however and shouldn’t put anyone off.

Excellent value for money
Excellent, very clear bright view. For the money they are excellent value. Robust and their weight makes them feel like a quality product. It is difficult to believe they are not of a metal construction.

Good value Binoculars
Waterproof, and sharp across the field of view. With binoculars, like most things, you get what you pay for. I'm very happy with them.

Compact, lightweight and good optics.
This was bought to replace a pair of old 10x50 binoculars which are somewhat bulky. The Zeiss are much more compact, lighter and have better optics. they are also more comfortable to use.

Amazing focus
These are a great size , not too big not too small . The grip is fantastic and the clarity of the lenses is worth every penny !

A few issues and I have had them 2 days.
Ok. Firstly, the optics are fine. They are pretty sharp in the centre but are a little soft on the outer edges. However, the colours and contrast is brilliant! The focus wheel is a delight to use and they feel good in the hard, with a tough, sturdy rubberised feel. (The image with the red circle shows the first pair) The image does have a little focusing issue though and I believe they are very slightly out of alignment and already need collimating. Now for the bad. The eye cups are not symmetrical and the right one has a satisfying click in it's closed, mid and maximum positions, but the left one clicks mid and max, but not when closed. The right one also extends 1mm more than the left one. I can However live with this. What I cannot live with after just 2 days and no real use aside from looking out my window at the boats on the sea and in the garden looking at a few birds. Is the black hand grip rubber on the left side is slightly lifted from the body. I noticed this yesterday, but only had a close look today. I have included a photograph. This of course means this rubber will start peeling off very soon and is obviously unacceptable. I am going to return these, but have contacted zeiss for their option first. I will then buy another pair and check if there are any issues. I am disappointed, as despite being manufactured in china, the quality control is meant to be as good as the German versions and ditching rubber grip as well as faulty eye cup just is not good enough. Update. I bought a second pair. The second pair are sharper and are perfectly aligned... This tells me the first pair do have an optical issue. I haven't tested the second pair enough to change my rating as I want to try them for a week first to make sure everything is fine as the rubber does appear loose around the edges and I think they are going to peel back, they also seem to be very slightly sticky, or at least leave my fingers feeling slightly sticky. I haven't tested enough yet as I want to see if they peel under normal light use. However, I have applied for zeiss's cash back promotion (£75) and as such will need to address any issues with them instead of returning them. I wish I had waited to apply for the promotion, but it's only active for another 5 days. Not great quality control. Of course (according to open AI) the issues could be due to storage, being an old unit or a bad batch. I will contact zeiss to check in due course. I tried the second pair for a couple of days, but the green rubber kept becoming sticky (tacky) finally I returned it as the armour was not glued properly and it felt horrible in my hand. I reached out to zeiss who are unbelievably unhelpful. Despite the armour coming off and the green being sticky (a paper tissue literally stuck to it and needed washing off) zeiss said it's fine and just cosmetic... This is a real shame as the optics are very good. Not as sharp as my Steiner's, but the zeiss have moderately better edge to edge clarity. It's just a shame the build quality and quality control is the worst I have ever seen!!!

focus issue, coloured fringing
Disliked the focussing It sort of went sharp then out but took a while to get focussed up Tested on tv tower (concrete structure) and a fine blue and orange line was evident, slight but was there. last year from here I bought some Olympus 8-16X bins and no problem with these in that respect As these cost just short of £500 where the Olympus was £80 I could not justify the price They were returned and have got some more which seem fine...

Verarbeitung: Dss was mir weniger wichtig.

Surprisingly it’s value for money despite being a Zeiss product
For me it was an introduction to real binoculars for the first time. I’ve tried brands like tasco, Celestron(with good enough reviews and with similar specs); but was always intrigued by why the brands like Zeiss, Vortex , etc. cost so much more, so I did some research and settled on this one, as I had very good experience of Zeiss in my daily and professional use. What really interested me, is that, experts at this price called it worth every penny and the first look through these assured me they were right. Pros: Sturdy construction average (725g) weight nicely balanced easy to hold even with one hand. Excellent clarity and crisp colours (at par with Zeiss sfl 8x30) Very acceptable low light performance (at par with Zeiss sfl 8x30) I was fortunate to get hands on a Zeiss sfl 8x30 binoculars and found it performing very similarly during day and low light except for its exceptionally large field of view. Distant buildings with their lights were visible during night which were evading the naked eyes. An all rounder. I used it for watching the birds, watched the near full moon, watched a butterfly perched 10’ away and it was excellent every time. Accessories (carry pouch, strap) are all A grade. Yes, it’s made in China, but neither I see any compromise in quality nor I’m a racist so all is good with me. Cons: A somewhat restricted field of view still very usable for tracking moving objects. There are still better alternatives but not by far and all much costlier I conclude by saying, anyone will be hard pressed to find a better binocular at this price. I agree with the experts that it’s value for money despite being a bit expensive. ( the sample photos I’ve shared are clicked with both the binocular and the mobile camera handheld so pardon any vibrations. )

Pienamente soddisfatto
Sono davvero soddisfatto di questo prodotto, è comodo e leggero, buona luminosità e bella l’impugnatura. Credo che sia tra i migliori anche rispetto al prezzo contenuto per un binocolo di buon livello. Lo consiglio vivamente.
