The bottom of the bottle contains the heat sensor that changes from orange to clear, when the liquid contents are over 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the liquid is at a comfortable temperature for consumption, the bottom returns to its natural orange color. For reference, hot coffee and tea is typically served at between 160 and 180 degrees Fahrenheit, so a temperature below 118 degrees Fahrenheit is the optimal warm temperature for child consumption. The nipple and straw are an additional unique characteristic of this bottle.
