15" Kosher Black Rams Horn Polished Shofar by Peer Hastam® - Made in Israel + Anti Odor Spray

I received my Shofar yesterday! I am so pleased with it. While it isn't black, as stated in the description, it's has black/cream off-white/grey stripes with a bit of burnt orange color along the area closest to the mouthpiece. Each horn is unique.I've read a few of the reviews. These horns are not mass produced so they won't always look like the picture. Mine doesn't look like the picture but it is very beautiful.Since I am a beginner of Shofars, I am learning how to blow it. Will get there with persistence and practice!Update: I am still pleased with my Shofar. It takes a lot of practice, patience and persistence to learn like any other instrument.I've read how others aren't happy that theirs isn't black like the picture. Well, rams have two horns and again I state each horn is unique. My horn also doesn't have the same sticker as the one in the picture but that's fine. I researched the sticker and read up on the people that made mine. Very interesting! And there is a process of how they choose horns that are up to code/standards (kosher) to be made into Shofars.When I am not practicing I keep mine out so I see it everyday. Usually on the nightstand next to my bed so I remember to practice in the morning.Note: My Shofar is not made by Peer Hastam. Made by Bar-Sheshet - Ribak. Size C3.

At first sight, I said it’s small- measured it and it is 15” alright. After wiping mouthpiece, tried to blow and surprised! What a loud, clear sound it produced! I have a kudu shofar which I have been practicing on- could get a sound but not very vibrant. So, I’m very happy with this purchase because it went beyond my expectations: It looks like the picture advertised, it is clean and shiny, it produces different sounds, has a characteristic smell of an animal origin but not offensive, it came with odor neutralizer, which I won’t be using much, and so cute, I could not stop admiring it. Will blow this everyday until I will be a pro. Many thanks, hope to join God’s trumpeters when the time comes.

This truly is one beautifully crafted instrument. I saw it on Amazon and thought I'd like to own one and when it came in the mail I could not believe the craftsmanship and the detail is amazing. Everytime I hear the shofar skillfully played it makes me want to bow a knee and give praise to the awesome God of Israel. Now with practice and prayer I hope that when I sound this instrument it will flow out with a tone that is as excellent as its workmanship. Surprisedly it wasn't as hard to blow as I thought... who knows I might get good at it.

Background - This is my second Shofar. Pros: Sound resonates very well and for me the mouth piece is big enough. The voicing is similar to a lambs bellow, higher in pitch than a Yemenite Shofar. It responds well with both a soft and hard blast. This shofar will deliver a loud blast. Cons: workmanship. The shofar I received was pretty dirty inside and out. It has lots of grinding/polishing dust in the natural pits and crevices. The mouth piece had the burred material from the drilling process still attached that I had to remove. After this I decided to do a quick hot soapy rinse, which I'm glad that I did because there was lots of powder and fillings that needed to be cleaned out. For the price its not bad.

I ordered this shofar for Yom Teruah 2013 and it arrived just in time which was earlier/just on time than estimated arrival date.The 15" is size is if you take a string and trace it around the edge. It isn't 15" if you lay it next to a ruler, which it would probably be ~8/9in.Also, there is definitely an odor with the horn if you place mouth piece close to nose, but the anti-odor spray does seem to help slightly.

I ordered this at the beginning of Jan. '14 and did not expect to receive it till about the 1st of Feb because it was coming from Israel. I rec'd it 2 weeks after I ordered it. I am very pleased with my shofar and I haven't had to use the anti odor spray yet. So far, there is no smell coming from it. I'm still learning how to blow it properly but that will come. Thanks for this wonderful item!

This horn came just as described and works great if you know how to blow it. We both have big 'ol lips and my wife figured out that if you don't put it directly on the front of your lips but kind of off to the side instead, it's easier to blow. We use this horn to call in our goats and now that they are trained up, it's hilarious to see them all running when we blow it.

Great product. It didn't come with the spray like it said it would, but that's all right. It only has an odor if you stick your nose up to the inside of it. Not bad at all. It came very quickly and packaged well to not break. Very pleased.

I received my authentic rams shofar this morning having placed my order for it on 7/11/20.Unfortunately although very beautiful I am missing the advise booklet that is advertised to come along with the shofar.And try as I might I seem unable to blow the shofar because I am also missing a mouth piece. Very disappointed ☹️

Gutes Produkt, welches ich weiterempfehlen kann. Das Schofar lässt sich gut spielen und hat einen lauten und klaren Ton. Ich kann sogar mehrere Töne erzeugen, was bei Widderhörnern, v.a. in der Größe nicht oft gelingt. Die Lieferung hat etwas lang gedauert, da das Paket im Zoll hängengeblieben ist, aber dafür kann ja der Verkäufer nicht. Mein Horn war nicht so schön poliert wie das abgebildete, der Verkäufer war aber sehr nett und entgegenkommend bzgl. der Reklamation. Ich kann auch keinen besonders ausgeprägten Geruch feststellen, deshalb habe ich das Spray noch nicht getestet.
