The Root Cellar

Loved this book as a kid and totally forgot it excited. I've been trying to collect all the books I loved as a kid and was so happy when I found it on here and it arrived on time.

I read this book with my 12 year old, for school. It was very enjoyable! There is some time travel/ time jumping, but it flows in the story very well. I laughed and cried, as there are some very descriptive scenes from the war between the states.

Read this to my daughter forever ago and could not read the last chapter for the tears. Excellent book!!

I am actually surprised at how much I really enjoyed this book. The main character is an American girl who has to move in with relatives in Canada. When she "crosses into" the 19th century world of the American Civil War, she is able to see both the Canadian perspective on the war and the perspective of the Americans who had family fighting in the war. In the process of helping the inhabitants of the past, the main character is able to figure out who she is and what bravery she is capable of as she aids a young soldier in his return home from battle. Over all, this was a great book.

I bought this for my son for a school project. He enjoyed it.

Excellent story.Very entertaining without the graff, corruption, violence and political mongoring that present day entertainment thrives on.Refreshingly enjoyable.

The media could not be loaded.  This is my favorite book from my childhood so I ordered both the hard cover and paperback, and I ordered the hardcover specifically for the cover in the photo when you order it, but this is the cover I got. It’s the same story, I just wish it was the cover I ordered because that’s the cover I remembered as a kid.

Great book by a great author! Arrived in decent condition... A couple bent pages. Timely delivery as well.

Just as I remembered it. I loved this story when I was an early teen. Reading it as an adult is just as good.
