Useful cutter for brake cable housing
I bought these to cut bicycle brake cable housing and they are the best tool I've used for the job, making a relatively clean cut without crushing, and able to trim away projecting bits of metal. Combined with a pick and coarse file they allow for smooth, even housing ends. I haven't used them for other applications but the construction seems sturdy and built to last.

It's worth it
Quality high grade tempered steel makes it super hard. Won't nick or dull. Very satisfied. Worth the money.

Great!
Just got these, used them to trim shifting cable and it chopped right through it. Before I was using old cutters that worked like an retired persons dentures, just kinda gnawing through cables and leaving very uneven cuts :(

Beefy and the Park name
Expensive for what they do. I bought them because everything else I own for bike tools is made by Park, and I wanted everything to match. It is a quality tool and feels good in my hand. It easily cuts through bike cable, almost as easy as the Park cable cutter (although I would not use this to cut casing). With that being said, it is really no different than a Craftsman or Kobalt tool you can buy locally, for a lot less.

Non è certamente di piccole dimensioni ma questa pinza è davvero robusta ed in grado di tagliare di tutto.

Don't waste your money on anything else - sure they are a little more expensive, but they are worth it. Brilliant quality as usual from Park Tool.

Overview — What It Is The SP-7 is a professional-quality side/diagonal cutter designed for general shop use, especially on bikes. It’s 7 in (190 mm) long with a 20 mm cutting surface and soft-touch dual-density handles for grip comfort. The steel is forged, heat-treated chromoly for durability. What I Like ✔ Clean, reliable cuts Reviewers report that the SP-7 makes nice clean cuts on brake housing, cables, and zip ties when used properly — generally placing the cable/housing at the base of the cutting surface and using firm, decisive pressure. ✔ High build quality Users emphasize that Park Tool tools feel solid and well-made, with the grips and steel quality living up to workshop expectations. One reviewer noted Park Tool’s reputation for reliability and that older tools still work well. Not a dedicated cable/housing cutter Some sources note the SP-7 is not optimized for cutting cables or housing compared to tools specifically designed for that purpose — despite many users doing so anyway. For optimal clean cuts without fraying or deformation, a dedicated cable/housing cutter (e.g., the Cable and Housing Cutter Park Tool CN‑10) is often recommended instead. Price vs. utility Park Tool products are often priced higher than generic alternatives, and some users feel the premium is more about brand reputation than a huge performance jump — especially if you only need occasional light cutting. Best Use Cases 👍 Ideal for: Cutting zip ties, cable ends, small housings General workshop cutting tasks Anyone building a Park Tool–centric workshop ⚠ Less ideal for: Heavy, frequent cable/housing cutting (get a dedicated tool) Precision work where a specialist cutter makes cleaner results Summary — Worth It? Yes, if: You want a durable, well-made side cutter from a respected bike-tool brand for general shop work and occasional cable trimming. Maybe skip it if: You mainly need a dedicated bike cable/housing cutter or want the best cable cutting results — in that case, a more specialized cutter is worth considering.
