Better alternative
Much better than buying flares and checking expiration dates every season. Also what to do with expired flares of which I have many? Works great and very bright utilizing C rated batteries which are fairly common.

Perfect for what I need.
Easy to use. Takes 2 C batteries. It's a bit pricey for what it as, as they all are for a coast guard approved SOS light. I picked this one from the others as it's more sized like a flashlight. The others were much more bulky. I made a "coast guard" package for the boat with all the requirements in like a small lunch bag which fit everything perfectly.

Finally made the switch from Flares!
Been a marine boater for over 40 years and got tired of wasting money on pyrotechnic type flares that only last 3 years and then expire! Granted they are very bright but you’re dealing with an ignited device that is a safety risk on a vessel. I finally decided to buy one of these SOS strobes that meet USCG requirements. Device looks well made and easy to use. My only beef is paying $80 for basically a fancy LED flashlight! Time will tell on how long it lasts and operates properly. Note. Do not store this with batteries installed. Keep them separated in a zip-lock bag and install when using the device.

Great replacement for flares.
I hated buying new flares every several years. This delivers an SOS light signal and costs about the same as two sets of flares. I keep new batteries for it in a vacuum sealed bag along with it in my ditch bag figuring, if I need it, I would like fresh batteries for it. I also have a Garmin InReach on board.

Great flare alternative..no disposal costs!
Great price. I'll never use or by flares again! Hopefully never need to use it, but if I do..every confidence it will work flawlessly!
