Rubber butt end is too large, but good rod
I really like this rod, I’m a fan of Penn reels as well. Only negative is the butt of the rod is too big to slide into the pvc sand spikes. It was a easy fix as I just took some sand paper to the rubber end. Fits now as you can see in the picture. would recommend!

Damage
What you would expect from a Penn rod. Great product and amazing performance. However, the shipping aspect is horrifying. I’ve ordered 3 rods from here in 3 weeks and every one of them has been damaged. Why? Because they ship these 300$ combos in clear plastic and clear plastic only. Literally no box and not even a little bubble wrap. I don’t understand the concept of Penn making such quality product to get shipped with no protection. I don’t ever leave reviews but i want people to understand this needs to be addressed. Even the replacement rod combo I ordered after I was refunded came the same way and damaged. I love Penn and these rods are wonderful but just order from the Penn site. I only came here because everywhere else specific rods were sold out but better to bite the bullet than order from here. Tight Lines!

Product good but shipping bad
The Penn Battle II surf spinning rod 12ft paired with a Penn 8000 reel, is just what I needed to obtain some distance in my surf fishing cast. The pole came UPS unpacked (like all the others) and it was damaged (bent line guides) but I just do not have the time nore the energy to return and wait for another so will bend them carefully back into place and Fish-on.......Lesson: If I buy an expensive one I will go to a store for the direct purchase. RRFishing

Great for bank fishing!
I manage to cast 6ox weights 150 meters and beyond. I haven't broken it in spite of some spooky casts! (learning curve) I've caught everything from peamouth chub to sturgeon on our local river.
