I just went to an ACT training and wanted to read the book prior to going. This is a must-read for clinicians who are CBT'd out. If you're working with clients who stuck in the precontemplative and contemplative stages of change and are not deterred by the consequences, you need to learn about ACT. Help your client's learn to lean into the uncomfortable emotions they seek to avoid.

Pros and Cons
There are both strengths and weakness to this ACT book. I will first start with the strengths. The authors provide a very practical introduction to ACT. The case studies do a fine job of providing example on how to apply ACT principles and techniques. I definitely see myself referring back to the case studies for assistance in understanding how an ACT concept can be used. I've read a few ACT books and so far this book does the best job in clearly showing how the sometimes elusive ACT theories relate to real clients and therapists.Unfortunately, this books does not live up to its title. Although a few useful tools are provided for case conceptualizations, I found that it merely scratched the surface of what an in-depth case conceptualization should look like. I was expecting exhaustive write ups and more comprehensive examples, similar to what is found in the book Mastering Competencies in Family Therapy A Practical Approach to Theories & Clinical Case Documentation . The Inflexahex Worksheet and Event Log are helpful in getting started with ACT case conceptualization, but they fail to give an extensive analysis from the beginning of therapy to the end. The authors use a lot of space in explaining the six domains of the hexaflex and its application in therapy, which is very informative. However, too little space is used in detailing case documentation.I would not recommend this book to someone who is looking for traditional case conceptualization from an ACT perspective. However, I will suggest it as good practical guide on how to apply ACT concepts in the therapy room.

A "must have" for practitioners of ACT! Deserves a reading with a pencil in hand for notes. Very practical! Highly recommended

At last! A readable ACT-introduction for therapists
I am a Norwegian psychologist, who has been looking for a book that is both readable and well written, and at the same time has some depth knowledge about ACT. This is it. I now have five books about ACT. This is the best one!

ACT e Behavior Therapy
Eccellente manuale per capire come l'ACT includa la Behavior Therapy e non ne sia semplicemente un complemento: Patty Bach e DJ Moran sono Autori chiarissimi e illuminanti!
