Great Air Pump!
I was looking for a good quality quiet air pump to replace the basic and cheap big box store air pump. The previous pump was a replacement to the original that came with the tank kit, and it is just a bit too loud for my kid's room. This Marina 75 pump is not too expensive and is very quiet. It is not silent, but I don't believe any small pump like this can be. It is about as close as you can get to silent though. I'll put it this way: The noise of the water coming out of the Fluval C2 filter is louder than the air pump sitting next to it. This means that it is silent from a practical, real-world perspective. I did a lot of research before selecting this pump, and am happy that I bought this one.If you need a truly "silent" pump, just build a vented and insulated enclosure for the pump. I am very happy with this pump an will buy another when that time comes.

Marina 75 Air Pump
I bought this air pump because I had read how quiet this pump was. While it is quieter than some others I've heard, I can't say that it is by any means silent. To a certain extent you can't escape the noise of bubbles in the aquarium, but you can still hear the hum of this unit even beyond the bubbles. Having said that, I had been using an aquaculture air pump before this one arrived and there was a very noticable difference. You couldn't ignore the noise of the aquaculture pump, but this one is easily ignored while sitting in the same room. Overall it is a good air pump, and I will probably buy another of the same kind before long.

Powerful but a little noisier than I'd like...
The first one I received had something horribly wrong with it. Sounded like a tiny road crew equipped with a million tiny jackhammers! Contacted Amazon and a replacement was sent no problem. Received the new one very quickly and was happy to see the noise level drop majorly. The pump is quite powerful in my 10 gallon, it runs my in tank filter and one air stone with no problem. The only drawback I found was that it is somewhat noisy, I had to put it on a timer so I could sleep at night. All in all good air pump for the price, small noise factor but with an easy solution.Update- I've had this almost a year now still works great but oh my is it LOUD! The sound it emits drives me up the walls, still on a timer so I can sleep.

Great-quiet, better than whisper brand 4sure
Great, using in 20 gallon aquarium for several large stones, no noise which is the best part. Great value for under $16.

Really Quiet & Efficient Air Pump!
Just got this air pump and set it up in my Fluval Edge. I wanted an air pump from a reputable manufacturer and (most importantly) that was quiet as can be. This air pump by Hagen fits the bill, especially on the quiet arena. My other aquarium is using a Tetra Whisper 10 air pump. I thought that was as silent as they come, that is until now. But hearing this Hagen Marina 75 in action, my Tetra Whisper is far from being a "whisper" and more like a lawnmower by relative comparison. Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but honestly, the Marina 75 is quiet and puts the Tetra Whisper to shame.

Mixed Views
I have mixed views on the pump. On the pro side it is quite powerful, I have a 24" air line in the tank it is pumping water through and it's quite strong in a 40 gallon tank. On the neutral side it seems a bit noisy but I don't have other pumps side by side to do a direct comparison, I can just say it is a noticable noise. I have read other people turn off their pump when they are not home due to the noise factor which I can understand, it is doable but not "quiet". No on off switch on the pump so thats a negative, especially if you want to quickly turn it off when you are not home. The power cord is short (as some other people have mentioned) so for a tank that is up in the air a few feet and the power source on the ground, the power cord is too short especially if you want to keep the pump higher than the aquarium as instructed. The last negative is there are 2 holes for the air to come out of, and I only am using one. Hence the other hole emits a lot of noise since it's just shooting air out into the open. As a 'solution' I cut part of the tubing off that I was using for the other hole and have the pump blowing air into that tubing even though that tubing is not connected to an air stone or anything. This makes it more quiet, but that doesnt seem like an efficient solution. It would be nice to be able to turn "off" the hole that you are not using, if you only plan to use one hole, but I assume that would add cost to the pump.

Works well !!!
Got this on a deal for a great price. Have it in my 20g tank and is more than adequate for it. The rubber feet keep any vibrations to a minimum but you can also add furniture bumpers to further isolate it if needed

Quieter than a Penn-Plax X2
I have a 20 gallon long aquarium. I hooked up a Penn-Plax Silent-Air X2 air pump to handle two air stones. It did the job but was noisy. I ordered this pump and it also handled the air stone load but was much quieter. Say about 33%. It has been running for over a month now without any problem. I have this pump on a timer so it turns off at night and on during the day and thus must push the water out of the lines every day from scratch. It has done this without fail and without any decrease in pressure.
