Great way to understand spectra
I got these for class demonstrations of spectra, thinking they would be easier to use than hand-held 2x2" slide-mount gratings, and they are indeed very handy, leaving hands free and also allowing both eyes to participate. There is no need for users to worry about where to hold the grating or what the orientation should be. The glasses are also larger and more visible than slides and easier to keep track of after the lesson. As implied by the product photos, the spectra are dispersed horizontally (grating rulings vertical), which is most convenient with most lab sources and easy for students to understand. With the relatively coarse 500 lines/mm, both first and second order spectra are visible. [ I also purchased a pack of the 1000 lines/mm glasses Rainbow Symphony Diffraction Grating Glasses - Linear 1000 Line/Millimeters, Package of 50 for studies requiring higher dispersion, but these, alas, turned out to have the gratings oriented differently, with the spectra dispersed vertically.]

Brightens most anyone’s day!
These are so much fun! Easy to send along with a note to anyone, kids, senior citizens- I mean who doesn’t love an instant rainbow - cheap stocking stuffers and nice to have on hand for fidgety children ( I always ask the parents first or I discreetly hand to a parent)- I carry around a few in my car just to brighten Someone’s day!!!

Great for educational purposes. They make learning about light fun and educational.
I use these for spectroscopy demonstrations. The diffraction grating glasses split the light wavelengths into their constituent parts so it's easy to determine which "colors" are being emitted by the light source. These are "linear" meaning you'll get one axis. There are versions of these that create multiple axes (and that looks really cool... but not as useful for teaching purposes.)I buy these in bulk from time to time since they are basically give-aways. Buying in small quantities is too expensive when you're giving one away to each audience member.

Perfect For Rainbow Lesson
These are great to teach about the science of rainbows and the children love going on rainbow hunts!

Fantastic Fun for Kids & Adults Too!
I like to keep a few trinkets in my pocket or purse in case nearby kiddos get tantrum-y at grocery stores, on planes, restaurants, etc. (I always get parent permission, of course!) These are SO GREAT for handouts. They're basically cardboard monocles made out of the same stuff as "fireworks glasses" they sell around July 4th. Looking through them turns every light source into dazzling rainbows. Kids adore them and if I'm ever blue, I squint through one and the rainbows really lift my spirits. They're great!

Worked fine.
Worked fine for diffraction grating lab activity. Students always get a kick out of seeing rainbows...and emission Spectra lines.

Fun Science Activity!
I gave these out to a first grade class and the kids LOVED them. Some took them home and made kaleidoscopes with them and others just played with them as is - really cute. A bit overpriced, and the first package I received only had half the discs, but Amazon quickly fixed the issue for me, and the kids were really happy with the rainbow makers :)

Well worth it!
I'm a college student and when I took chemistry, we got to work with diffraction grating glasses. They were so cool that I decided to buy some for myself. I bought this pack so I could share the excitement with friends and family. They came in a long tube. The price is right and so far, everyone I've given some to has loved them. Well worth it!
