Benchmade - Saddle Mountain 15002 Hunting Knife with Wood Handle (15002)

Very nice craftsmanship. A higher quality steel. Sturdy leather sheath. Knife alone weighs 4 ounces. What’s not to like?

One great knife. Handle may be a bit narrow for those with huge hands. Blade is fantastic. Razor sharp as all Benchmade knives are. Sheath has a non-slip design making more valuable in usage, hence I removed the snap strap for more readily accessibility taking into consideration the knife won’t slip out unless under extreme condition. Will keep the strap in the case I’m traversing rocks or other grades where there’s more than moderate reversal positions. Highly recommended for those who want to carry without violating the five inch rule. Blade is sufficiently large enough for any usages. Plus, it’s a Benchmade!

This knife is one of a few benchmade’s I have. The knife is very comfortable in hand, even tho it has a thin handle. The blade is very nice and the s90v, what can you say about this steel.Now the sheath that comes with it, one may say it’s just a packing safety item or a storage case for the blade, other than that it’s not that great. The blade came sharp ( would shave hair out the box) and is very durable. I will be getting more in the 15000 line of benchmade.

The knife is made of great steel. The scales leave a bit of the tang proud but nothing to write home about. The sheath is plain trash. It doesn’t even have a belt loop. Two pieces of plastic stamped together and that’s it. The knife is left rather loose inside. I know it’s the fad of sheaths to carry the knife in a backpack, a new trend which I think is absurd, not to say something worse. What ever happened to a good old leather belt sheath for a knife such as this.

I’m sure there are better knives out there but this is a high quality blade with excellent materials. S90v steel blade cuts like new every time. 3 months of daily use and I can still slice through 1/2” manilla rope with ease. Not a big fan of the sheath but that’s a small gripe to a leather crafter.
