how long will they light for when power goes out?

I bought this pack based on these reviews of long battery life, but found that either of mine lasted maybe 15 minutes. Mine are terrible and I'm replacing them with something that would at least last a few hours. My previous emergency flashlight lasted 10 solid hours after years of ownership. I know - I left it on overnight (had a reason) more than once and it still shone brightly enough the next morning to be used as a flashlight. I wish I'd have kept it and fixed it instead of replacing it.

Does this have one wider and one narrower (polarized) plug or can it plug into the lower outlet and hang downward?
